No mention for the female principal speaker, Sian Berry - also a member of the green left and veteran of direct action protests...

Apologies, Jim. I was unaware of her track record. But good news about Derek, no?

Nice one, Derek! (And fair play to Sian Berry, but (a) she was re-elected unopposed and (b) I'd never heard of her before today, whereas I've known Derek (or at least known people who knew him) for yonks.)

Actually she was wasn't re-elected, Caroline Lucas was the f principle speaker until her election - but that's probably besides the point.
I think it's worth knowing about her because of her involvement as an organiser in the campaign against 4x4s before anyone else seemed to care about the issue and Faslane 365

This is a significant result, despite the obvious shortcomings of the Green Party as a whole, it does represent a political space and the extent to which socialist politics find an echo in the Greens would seem to mirror how relevant they are to society as a whole.
Clearly there is a lot culturally about the currently constituted left that is neither liberating or particularly exciting.
The extent that Derek Wall can play in marrying socialist politics to the most significant poliitcal question of our time will be interesting to see.
I think Derek would agree that it is not about reliance on a 'leader', but rather developing politics, strategy and culture to advance notions of ecosocialism and (as I would see it) the politics of the Third Camp.
Well done Derek.
