The Dawn Patrol: Comments

Now, now, Dawn...Teenwire covered the abstinence angle with paragraph 2 before getting to the "licking the prom date's nether regions" part!

I love how Teenwire wraps up the piece with the advice to prom-goers to "have a ball." I haven't come across a better instance of self-parody in a long time.

Dawn you referred to the morning-after pill as an "embryo-destroying drug". It would have been more accurate and effective to have said "baby-destroying drug". (It would have been less politically correct also, which is always good in my book.) Thanks for the post and keep up the good work!

Well hopefully Saran Wrap won't be touting this use in a commercial in the foreseeable future.

I shouldn't have read this before lunch...OTOH, I need to lose weight anyway. OH YUK!

The BAGLY Prom is a crazy scene, and how I managed to keep my daughter from going, when all her friend wer, is some kind of miracle. A lot of straight kids of the "punk" persuasion go to this thing for the scene.

Ugh, I didn't need sex to make my proms "definitely a night to remember!" I went to two proms and after proms and had a blast without the sex.

"A lot of teens decide to have sex for the first time on prom night," explains Eric, 18. "Or, they may think that having sexual intercourse on prom night will make it that much more special"

Oh, believe me, teenage sex isn't all it's made out to be by the media or teeange gossip (this is from the voice of experience). They forgot one important thing to tell teens. Be cautioned of getting lust and love mixed up. Sex doesn't equal love, that is having sex won't guranatee love in return from your partner. However, they are mutually companion feelings.

Fr. Jeff, thanks for your kind words. The term "embryo-destroying" sounds strange to me too, because I know the morning-after-pill ("emergency contraception" is a sick euphemism) really destroys babies. However, I used the term deliberately, for two reasons:

1) Those in favor of legal abortion immediately tune out references to "baby-killing." If I want to reach any abortion supporter who might be even close to being on the fence, I have to save that term as a weapon of last resort and try to reach them through other means first. Even so, I do often refer to abortion as being murder, and have been publicly excoriated for it by pro-aborts.

2) Even referring to the MAP as embryo-killing is extreme to the Planned Parenthood crowd. As I have noted before, they don't even acknowledge that the fertilized egg killed by the MAP is an embryo—they use terms like "blighted ovum" and are actively campaigning to change medical textbooks so that a non-implanted embryo will not be considered the beginning of human life.

Nice to see that I didn't miss much by never going to prom (or homecoming or winter formal for that matter).

If you don't have Saran Wrap, can you use aluminum foil? Ouch!

John - foil is fourteen percent less effective! Do you want to put these kids at risk?

John, Nightfly, LOL!

When I read garbage like this from Planned Parenthood, I actually briefly feel glad that liberals have decided to cause themselves to go the way of the Do Do bird by their destructive sexual (de)values. They are a dissapearing breed...literally, as the "Roe Effect" catches up with them. Then, after a brief sense of "I told you so..." or "Ha, Ha! Serves them right," I feel guilty.
