The Dawn Patrol: Comments

So it looks like Dawn Eden will be pulling a Mark Shea.

Exactly!

Congratulations! This is exciting. As much as I'll miss you, I'm sure you're making the right decision.

best of luck - I can't wait to read the book

Well, I guess I can find SOMETHING to do with all these extra hours of my day.

I can never thank you enough for all the good work you have done, for giving me the confidence to blog myself, and the exposure so that I wasn't writing just for myself. You are a treasure. I may have to revise the Edelweiss lyrics without the blog, but the sentiment is the same, Munchkin.

We'll miss you Dawn!
Many blessings with your book and RCIA!!!!

Oh no! What they all said!

Do what is necessary, but don't forget us. I really enjoy your take on things, your excellent blog manners, and your fierce light on the ugly side of society.

I will pray for you and for all coming into the Church this RCIA season.

Evil maniacal laughter...

God bless you too, Dawn.

We'll still be connected via prayer (come to think of it, we're all only one degree of separation apart, thanks to Jesus....).

Nothing pleases an atheist more than to see a Christian blog bite the dust.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!

Dawn, My family will be praying for you during your RCIA travels. Please keep us all posted on your progress.

Let me know when I can move you from "Non Catholic Christian blogs" to "Catholic blogs" :)

Our prayers are with you! Go get em', Dawn. We wish you the very best.

WE'LL MISS YOU!

Power to your (writing) arm! I'll miss you!

Janjan

I miss seeing you around but I guess it's with good reason. All the best to you.

Hi Dawn,

I will miss your blog and will look forward to your return. I will also look forward to your book, which sounds like it has a message that desperately needs to be heard in light of depressing articles like this.

Oh, Dawn - I'll miss you! But what a good reason for a break. Best of luck and many blessings with RCIA and with the book.

A note about the rosary, and what a beautiful story from the nuns and their gift to you - I'm still getting the hang of devotional habits, and I picked up a book called The Rosary: A Path Into Prayer by Liz Kelly, and so far it is excellent. Liz is a jazz singer and seems to be about the same age group as we are.

Anyway, have a wonderful break. Off to email you so I get on the notification list!

Dawn - don't you worry about us! We'll miss you and we will be here waiting when you go back on Patrol. I know you'll give the world a terrific book (the title is already aces). Besides, isn't that the Golden Ring for the aspiring author? A book deal is fantastic news.

I'm sending you that email. In the meantime, don't make yourself too scarce! Go with God, Ms. Powerhouse...

What a wonderful feeling to be blessed with a Sally Field moment. Thank you so much, everyone!

As I said, I'm not naming names for fear of omitting someone—but if I were, you'd all be on my list of those whose friendship and support has enriched my life as I've been writing this blog. I'll miss seeing you regularly in my comments section, but I'll look forward to seeing you again in January.

First the blogosphere looses Barb Nicolosi to a book deal & now Dawn?!? (SIGH) At least it's only temporary! (And only for 4 months.)

I look forward to your return, Dawn. Stop in & say HI around the Holidays, please, so we can send you e-fruitcakes!

God bless. You're in my prayers.

God Bless, and Good luck!

I'm waiting for the blog that comes out that deals with patients suffering from 'The Dawn Patrol Withdrawals' - Count me in on the waiting list.

Seriously, God Bless you. And I pray He gives you day-to-day strength for this task. See you 2006!

2006! I can't wait untul 2006!!

For a proposed temporary treatment of the symptoms of Dawn Patrol Withdrawal Syndrome, see here.

It's a real loss for the blogosphere's culture of life, but your book will be an important contribution. God bless your efforts, Dawn. I'll be looking forward to your return.

was it something I said?

Awwww! Michael, not sure which Michael you are, but I can assure you it wasn't anything you said.

Congratulations Ms. Eden!

While I don't share your views, I'm sorry to hear that you are leaving the blogsphere. It's all nothing without lively debate, and your contribution was large.

We look forward to seeing your book.

I look forward to your return, and the Dawn of a new day.

You'll be missed, Dawn. Finish the book quick as you can.

RCIA - yeah!!!!!

Although I'll miss your blog, I think you're doing the right thing. You should focus on the book, which will do wonders for your career in the long-run.

It's only three months.

Good luck on the book, which we know will be a winner.

Best wishes; Dawn, I will miss you and your blog. It has been a valuable resorce to me in my study into the origins and history of Christian paganism, and how it continues to effect our daily lives. As of yet there is no simple answer, and knowledge is our only defence: As it is written,"My people perish for lack of knowledge". May you continue to enjoy the blessings of Elohim, and much success with your book.

Leaving? But I just got here! It's my breath, isn't it? :-)

Seriously, I'm looking forward to the rest of your stepdad's story. Best wishes on the book!

Add me to the ones who will be missing you for the rest of the year. Best wishes with writing your new book.

Dawn,

We'll miss you - but our prayers and best wishes go with you. May the Lord bless and keep you, and make his face to shine upon you! And please, please, come back - you may not know it, but you're needed. Truly.

Joey W.

Can't wait to read your book...if you need someone to bounce parts of it off, let me know. Good luck!!!

You will be missed, indeed, Dawn--this is one of two or three daily must-reads for me--but I can certainly understand why you'd need to do this. I don't blog nearly as much as you do and I still find it a significant hindrance to the Bigger Fish I Want to Fry.

I wonder if anybody else clicked over to W Publishing and ended up with a Captain Beefheart song (or "song") stuck in his head.

congrats on the book deal, I will plan to pre-order at least 3 to send to my grown daughters. Write fast!
feel free to pop up at any time with prayer requests.
I'll be sending you that email. looks like you should come off hiatus just in time to fill in for all the bloggers who give up blogging for Lent!

I abhor your views but at least you're to be a fellow Catholic.

Barukh atah Ha-shem, Elokaynu, melekh ha-olam, who, in His providence, has seen fit to give us the Dawn. May she rise another day to bring light to our lives.

"Let me know when I can move you from "Non Catholic Christian blogs" to "Catholic blogs" :)"

We've already moved you! (since if you get run over by a bus between now and your reception you die a Kaflick)

Go write the damn book and come back.

Good luck! Here is a good prayer for writing:

God be in my head, and in my understanding;
God be in my eyes, an in my looking;
God be in my mouth, and in my speaking;
God be in my heart, and in my thinking;
God be at my end, and at my departing.

Bless you, and welcome home.

Dawn, I tried to get on your mailing list by e-mail but even with the @ symbol It tells me it cannot be delivered. Your blog even if you get hit by a bus(God Forbid) will always be in my favorites.

Speaking of putting her on "Catholic blogs," she's been on the Catholic Blogs and Resources List ("St. Blog's Parish) for some time now. Don't know who added her, but they sure felt the Spirit moving.

Good riddance! One idiot less on the blogosphere.

Oh no, Observer - you're leaving too?

Thank you Dawn, and God bless you on your journey and during the writing process. You're an inspiration and it's a joy to see you come into the Church!

Nightfly, go easy on Observer—judging by where he logs onto the Net, our team is whipping his team's butt.

Ahem. Your team ain't even playing his team! And BTW I'd like to thank the BOSOX for throwing the first game to allow me to see them play Saturday at Fenway providing they also have the decency to win one of the next two.

Ah. Well, I never claimed to be knowledgeable about football. Anyway, the national edition closes early, so the score was love-love last I checked before leaving work.

Which reminds me that in Paris, one egg is an ouef.

Are you saying the yolk's on me?

I suppoach so.

That joke is so ova.

Oh no! You know what you are going to start and you did it anyway! Now I have to scramble to find a suitable response...

Omigosh! Whatever you do, don't respond to the troll using my name and email! It clearly hasn't accepted that Dawn is going away and won't be back to play for a couple of months.

Am I allowed to say "bugger"? Anyway you've promised to do a General McArthur - we'll keep you to it.

Colleen, I wouldn't fake your e-mail to make a bad egg joke. Benedict wouldn't approve.

Of the deception? Or of the eggs Benedict?

See ya!

Of the deception. I don't know how Benedict likes his eggs, but I don't think deception would go over easy with him.

Dawn, mazal tov! As a single 30-something myself, I believe that your book will be a blessing for those who receive its message. You will be missed, but I have to say I need the break so I can now read up on all your *many other* wonderful posts, stories, etc. I should be caught up by January. :) The best to you. ~ cm

Your leaving me? What a great loss to the blogsphere. I have greatly enjoyed your posts and being allowed to share my thoughts on faith, life and morality. Thank you for that opportunity.
I too, think many of those who have spoken before me, will count down the days till your return.
God Bless and welcome to our Catholic family and may Our Lady, Help of Christians (patron saint of Australia and New York; strange coincidence) watch over you.

Eggsactly my sentiments. Meanwhile, we'll keep the home fries burning.

Ouch! You win, Robert.

the end ... period!

Sorry, Uncle Jim, but I feel compelled to mention that the little place where my family and I had brunch on Sunday, right down the street from the seat of the local bishop, features a dish called Eggs Cathedral (which my wife said was very good).

At least let us know about any fun headlines that come up! Shall we expect your Church arrival at Easter?

Thanks, RC! I did write the front-page headline of today's Daily News--the first edition anyway (the next edition probably features the Yankees' loss). It's on Tom Cruise's impending fatherhood: "CRUISE YOUR DADDY!"

Please note that said headline is not intended as an imperative.

Personal to those who've written to be on the Dawn Patrol notification list: Many thanks. I plan to write to each of you, only I've had to cut down on e-mail writing today due to a back-pain flareup.

Dawn,
I deeply enjoyed most of your writings and you will be missed. But I wish you the best of luck in writing your book and your spiritual journey.

I think I am getting withdrawal symptoms already...I am pretty sure I had a dream last night where I was reading a new post on the Dawn Patrol.

http://www.gawker.com/news/new-y...n-it- 129468.php

this is your second mention on gawker in two short days!

But where will all the inmates go, now that the Warden has closed the asylum? Oh, there is no need to worry, I'm sure we will all find a new nest, if we keep seeking the will of Elohim.

God bless you, Dawn!

:)

I'm glad for your good fortune. Best of luck with your book.

I'm late to the game wishing a brief fare-thee-well to Dawn. I've got my own new writing job I'm working on, and have only one minute per week now for personal stuff.

So I'm using that one minute to say: Hope you come back with your game face on when you succesfully nail down your current book project! This is one of the most important sites on the internet, I think. It's a place where people can discuss important subjects like abortion and what it's doing to our culture in an open forum (as long as they follow the webmaster's unobjectionable rules!)

See you next year!

Thanks so much again for all your support and good wishes. I'm planning to write personally to each person who's e-mailed me, but I've been slow at this because of a back-pain flareup. Please know that it means a lot to me that you read and appreciate what I do. God bless you.

Prayers your way to feel better soon.

You've only been gone what? 10 days? I can't believe how much I miss you and all the regulars.

Awww! Thank you, Colleen! Robert N. Going is trying to keep the Dawn Patrol spirit going on his blog--he's even got a Carnival of Dawn Patrolers: http://www.livejournal.com/users/rgoing .

Faith, thanks for your prayers. God bless you too. The pain hasn't been as bad during the past few days. I'm hoping to start getting caught up on some of my e-mails tonight. I've also been making good progress on my book--will send a sneak preview soon to people who've written to be on my notification list for when the DP starts back up (e-mail dawn -at- dawneden.com ).

The bad news is, my pain's still making it hard to write many e-mails.

The good news is, I still have my sense of humor. I wrote the front-page headline in today's paper about Sly Stallone making a new "Rocky" film: "OLDEN GLOVES!"

Sorry about your back- don't worry about emailing me- am checking here periodically.

Have you been to a doctor?
Don't overdo!

Feel better soon!

And if the new "Rocky" wins a couple of Oscars he'll call them his "golden loves."

Ouch, RA!

I have been to a doctor, Faith. Hopefully things will get better when they improve my typing setup at work, which should be soon.

Also, Faith--added your fine blog to the blogroll.

On another note, I discovered today, looking at the URL for Gawker's photo of me, that the site calls me by the same name my Mom does. They must really love me. Either that, or Mom's secretly writing under the name Jessica Coen. Hmmm...her mother's name was Jessica, and her father was descended from the section of the priestly tribe that's known as Kohanim--that is, Cohen...

Dawn,
I am so honored- you are very kind!
Thank you :)

Glad you're going to the doctor- maybe a headset-type phone at work would help if you don't already have one.

Keep us posted- feel better soon!

I really like that pic, Dawny. Do you think it's glamorous enough for St K?
If so, I'll add it to my next Carnival.

Thank you, and I'll check back again soon. Make sure you spend enough time doing what's proper!

For any poetry or folk-music fans reading, I just learned that one of The Dawn Patrol's readers has put Gerard Manley Hopkins' poetry to music--and the results are beautiful. You can hear samples of his songs at http://www.gerardmanleyhopkins.n....net/ index.html .

I miss Dawn!

*sobs*

I miss you too, St. K. Don't cry. Happy belated anniversary!
