Couldn't she have just given Britney a red string? Oops, I forgot -- Britney has one!

In the words of that great American philosopher James Trafficant, "Beam me up, Scotty!"

That woman is weird to at least the power of ten.

Some years ago a friend of mine predicted that the Italian Catholic in Madonna would eventually triumph and when she got too old to do the hoochie-coochie anymore she would turn into this great penitent.

Still waiting.

And if Mick Jagger is any indication you're never too old to do the hoochie-coochie anymore.

I lost interest in anything Madonna said a long time ago. I used to think that she was cutting edge, provocative and original. Now that I'm older I know she is just confused.

I guess it was the kiss of death for both careers.

How many jobs involve that kind of apprenticeship?

Nasty thought...does that mean that Lourdes' mommy kisses her like that? Why would that explanation satisfy her otherwise?

And by the way--Dawn, maybe you can reply to this: is there really a good reason why a lot of people take Madonna's music seriously? I encountered the notoriety before I heard her, and when I did I thought "Is that it?" Kind of an ordinary, slightly squeaky voice singing very ordinary pop. I've always been so put off by her image that I've kind of gone out of my way to avoid her music.

If Madonna is the anti-Virgin, then wouldn't that make Lourdes the ... oh dear.

I felt sorry for her children the minute they were born. Never mind the lesbian-type kisses--- what about her book, _Sex_, which consists of pornographic poses, including those aimed at depicting her as a little Catholic school girl, seducing any pedophile who picks up the book? How do you explain _that_ to a child, a child meant to be holy and protected? "Mommy is a what?"

I hate when people live to be a ripe old age and don't "get off it", i.e., blaming the accidents and misfortunes of their youth to live a monotonously repetitive and sinful life. I mean, haven't you ever met a high school friend 10, 20, 30 years later, and they're still doing the same hopeless nonsense, and miserable as well? Madonna lost her mom at an early age, and her experience with Catholicism was harsh. It's what's so, and so what? Move on, Girl. You've done more damage to your child than your poor absent mom and misguided dad ever did to you.

Madonna's "Kabbalah" nonsense doesn't make her any holier. Talk about Dawn Eden's column this week about faith and morality. For Madonna, "faith" is an intellectual diversion which bears no fruits in her moral behavior at all.

Madonna is just trying to prepare her daughter for the possibility that Lourdes may eventually see Swept Away.

Anything but that!

Well said Mom&pop.

Not infrequently I come across people who don't pratise their faith anymore because of the way their parents or some priest taught it or some apparently evil group of people still practise it. Of course it's really just an excuse and a mighty lame one at that.
I usually ask them why they don't take their complaint right to the top - you know have it out with Jesus - blame Him. Of course they don't have an answer to that because the honest answer would see them back in the Church pews.

The other night here in NZ an interview with Jane Fonda was televised (she was over The Ditch in Australia.) Anyway, poor old Jane still comes across as full of self pitying arrogance but she did say one gem. "that there is a statute of limitations on how long children can keep on blaming their parents for the hash they've made of their own lives."

Poor old Madonna is so full of herself, she's her own God and until she realises there's one above her she's still going to parade on the world's stage making the rest of us sick. I suggest we seriously pray for her.

My least-favorite reason to hate religion: "Well, this person that practices it did this!"
"But what about the ideas?"
"No! My grandfather was spanked by a nun! Catholics are wrong!"
"...."

Meh. Madonna's not transgressive, or fascinating, or talented, or anything other than just boring.

After all, nothing is as dull as someone constantly yelling about how shocking they are.
