Dawn, I just went back and read your testimony from the opening installment. Wow. Your story is riveting and your storytelling wonderful. Someone suggested a book, but I think that, given your facility for color and brevity, a graphic novel would be better. You might get R. Crumb or Harvey Pekar to illustrate. (Neon Park, who did the great album covers for Little Feat, would have been my first choice, but he died some years ago.)
Think about it -- yours would be the world's first autobiographical bohemian Catholic conversion comic book. Hoy hoy!
Meantime, be sure of my prayers as your Catholic life continues. I know firsthand that the darkness of melancholia (aka depression/anxiety) doesn't magically disappear when you live the sacramental life in Christ. Transformed into meaningful suffering, yes. Removed, no. Not usually, anyway. Of course, miracles do happen. As we're finding out from your continuing saga. (More, please!)

Dear Ms. Eden,
I just read the interview with you published in The National Catholic Register. I enjoyed it very much, and welcome you into the Church. Your mention of St. Maximilian Kolbe caught my eye. I actually first learnt about St. Max through a work of fiction (Pierce by a Sword) but have developed a devotion to him as well. When I was in the seminary, my class "adopted" him as our patron saint, so we all would pray a novena, asking him for his prayers for us. I continue to wear a relic of him around my neck with my Miraculous Medal, and when I was ordained, I took the name Maximilian in honor of him. Have you heard about the Militia Immaculata, the group St. Max started while a seminarian in Rome? You can find out more by going to the Marytown USA website, www.consecration.org.
I also blog, at www.frjcmaximilian.blogspot.com; mostly my homilies and other spiritual reflections.
Lastly, I am very interested in your book. I have a 15 y/o niece, who is very committed to chastity, and a program called "True Love Waits." I was thinking of getting a copy of your book for her. Do you think it might be a bit mature (in the good way) for a teenage girl?
Keep living the Faith as you do. God Bless,
Fr. JC Maximilian

"I was beginning to rebel against the rebellion."
Love that phrase Dawn. Seems to be the trouble with the world. We don't rebel against our rebellion: we don't doubt our doubts: we just drift along tolerating everything instead of which every one of us should be belting the crap out of our arms against steel filing cabinets to jolt people awake.

Hi Dawn,
I'm another N. C. Register reader who got curious. I also had a vague idea that I had heard of your blog by name.
One major comment, it's hard to read the whole 22 parts (so far) via Google search. When you get far enough along, please set up a frame with a table of contents. Then find a way to publish it as widely as possible..
I have learned some useful things from your comments on your non-unique experiences, I think many more will too.
I can't wait for when you get to how you started to explore Plannned Parenthood's nasty trail. I'll pray for you, please pray for little old Vermont. Under attack by PP and Death with Dignity (sic or rather, sick!)

Dawn, I never knew you were such a loon until you described the arm-banging incident. And I mean that in the best, kindest, most complimentary way possible. Way to stand up to slime!!!

It's difficult when you want to be cool, and you like the "style" of a certain rebel group, but don't believe what they believe in, fundamentally. You obviously though, ultimately followed your heart, and that's good.

and as your readership grows, i think of the letters PAUL wrote, and how they cover the globe today. evangelization works from the stories we share of our personal first-hand experience [testimony] of God's love for those of us who rejected Him many times and found Him steadfastly standing around the next corner waiting for us to [re]discover Him. and, as fr jc maximilian asks above, i wonder if you would rate your book [something like pg, or pg-13, etc.] so we can know how far down the age chain we can recommend it. and the word keeps spreading. no wonder you're so close to your mother - you're just the way she prayed you'd eventually be, i'm sure. shavua tov!

Gee ... I had enough trouble just trying to imagine what it was like to work for a man wearing leopard-print leggings and a lightly padded bra.
God bless you, my friend!
