The Dawn Patrol: Comments

1) Dawn, in the "outtakes" at the end, it's remarkable how laughter transforms your face. Too bad the laughter didn't make it onto the soundtrack.

2) 2:25, not subtle enough, should have been just a single frame. (But wonderful news anyway...)

Highly entertaining; I look forward to buying the book (and I've advanced since the coffeehouse meeting in OKC back in '05; I now have my own little cyber-nook).

Gotta love the S from hell music over your glamor shot. Hilarious.

Also, the Raving Theist?

You're missing an 'L' in the link to the book's page, Dawn! [Where? - Ed.]

Always nice to see you again, though I still can't figure out what's so terrifying about the Screen Gems sound (or logo, for that matter). :P

Not the S from Hell!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!! that is great!!!!!!!

i saw it first on dennis' site vita mea,
so he's lnked you up ... again!

LOL!!!

"dressing room" is a real nice touch.

Okay....It's official.

You are definitely the coolest person I know.

Most excellent!

Thanks for the show. I enjoyed it here in San Antonio. More of you and less of Mr. Stern would make this world a better place. Keep up the fun side of chastity, too many people have a mistaken impression that seeking Christ must be a burden, however, my experience is the opposite as Weigel has written. Hills and valleys, clouds and dirt, absence of mediocrity makes life interesting, fun, and fulfilling.

Thanks again. You now have more pressure, I am sure many will make your blog into a daily stop.

That was so cute!

I have to ask as well "Directed by The Raving Theist?"??

Wonderful. You just need a little work on your placard-holding technique. I don't recall Dylan looking like he was going to drop the lot at any moment. :)

Okay, so my wife said: "Well! I guess that's how you put together a Press Kit!"

:)

Wow! That was awesome!

Did my eyes play tricks on me or did I see the "A" disappear in "The Raving Atheist" in the credits? ;-)

Did somebody say Dylan?

That was brilliant, Dawn.

I may use this when I give my chastity talks to the girls in our high school youth group.

Re: Wes's comment above: The website name is spelled correctly in the last sentence:

"For more information on my book, visit thrillofthechaste.com."

. . . but the href link for "thrillofthechaste.com" is missing an "l", i.e. http://www.thrilofthechaste.com/

Yes, what DeeBee said -- it's the link at the very end of this entry.

[Corrected -- thanks! - Ed.]

Dawn:

I had the sound down while I was waiting for the video to load (still on dial-up here), but I'd glance up once in a while to see what was going on.

Toward the end, I saw you laughing and I thought, "Good! I'll finally get to hear what her laugh sounds like." It looked like a good deep full-body laugh, too. But, alas, it was not to be. Any chance of restoring that bit of sound to the video?

Well done to all involved and I hope we can see more collaborative efforts like this!

Regards,

Since I don't usually allow my wife on the internet [just kidding], I was especially excited to have her watch this.

She is a middle-school science teacher in a Roman Catholic parochial school. In addition to science, she teaches a religion class. She'd like to use this to show her students. Any copyright problems with that? [She'd have to download / copy it and show, as they do not allow the kids internet access in the class-room.]

[No copyright problems on my end of things -- thanks! - Dawn]

Absolutely wonderful!!! Yeah!!!!

And yeah R_!!!

This is one of the coolest videos I've ever seen.

God bless the Raving Atheist!

I was still half asleep, sipping my first cup of coffee at 5 a.m., when the credits rolled by and I saw the A drop away from RA. I nearly jumped out of my skin for joy that he is coming clean! And that is saying something 'cause I am not a joyful human that early in the morning.

Hi Dawn:
Very cool video and I am looking forward to the book.

I posted a link to your site here:

http://www.janemag.com/memos/blogs/sarah

This is a blog in the magazine 'Jane' about a 29 yo virgin who has asked the editors of the magazine to help find her a guy so she can lose her virginity b/4 she is 30. I read about it in one of the Boston newspapers a few days ago. When I saw your video, I was flummoxed because the story of this girl has weighed heavily in my mind - it's so sad and so superficial. Your video and book are perfectly made for her, I can't believe this is a coincidence.

You could post her a few words of wisdom, this poor soul is lost in the zeitgeist - sounds like she's Catholic school educated, worse yet.

She's a genius, but we already knew that.

Now what is that musical tag at the end?

I'm getting a really warm happy associative memory of being a kid watching tv, and hearing that tag after the credits of certain shows - which production company used it? was it screen gems?

???

Yes, yes, we want to hear the laugh! Great work, everybody. Very impressive Dylan imitation from Mr. Kansas.

Screen Gems it is; in fact, this little stinger is known familiarly as the "S from Hell." (See comment #3.)

CGHill, thank you for confirming the stinger - I should have seen your reference in #3.

S from Hell? As stingers go, it's a winner in my book.

Beautifully done. :)

I don't recall Dylan looking like he was going to drop the lot at any moment.

I just took a few looks at the original and am even more impressed. You seem to be flopping the cards in the same spots he did. Wow.

Too bad you couldn't have Fr Huneycutt filling in the Alan Ginsberg "Rabbi" spot in the background.

Robert, you will have to take my word for it when I tell you that Allen Ginsberg was very much there in spirit.

How much fun is this, turning 'hippie' culture into 'zippie' culture
(like staying all zipped up 'n' stuff, man...)

Wonderful!

Great work Dawn and I'll have to commend the Raving Athesist on not getting his tongue tied. I tried doing the original Dyan version once and gave up when my words all got meshed together.

A great message presented with talent and humour:)

I waited all day to get home from work so I could crank up the volume and watch--great work!

Vocal gymastic credits actually go to Saint Kansas. And getting my heart to actually lurch in surprise goes to The Raving (A)theist.

I haven't seen the Dylan thing in so long, I'm sure I'm missing the finer points, but this is a great stylish presentation on the sheer attractiveness of modesty and self-control.

Brava!

OK, I watched the whole thing again and am even more impressed. Great work, all of you, and a special thanks to Bobby D for the inspiration. I'll bet he'd appreciate the tribute.

(By the way, I recommend Dylan's latest album, "Modern Times", which, like his previous two, achieves a timelessness in which all eras of American music are simultaneously present. I don't know about what other Dylan fans think, but it seems to me that he is as creative as ever, and that he has enriched American culture so massively over the last 5 decades that he can't be compared with anyone else (except epochal figures like Twain and Shakespeare)).

OMG, I just loved it (particularly in light of this week's episode of "Lost"!) When I heard the Screen Gems sound, I just about blew coffee outta my nose.

Great job Dawn, St.K, and R-(A)T (and what's THAT about?!?!?!)

Sublime:)

PS: Don't forget to order an extra copy for the local public library!

Joseph, your assessment of Dylan is right on, especially ..achieves a timelessness in which all eras of American music are simultaneously present. Exactly. I have a Music of the Week feature on my blog and may just have to quote that when I get around to this album. Email me if you would like credit by name.

Nice job everybody!

(Xtra points for the Rondey Dangerfield talking doll on the desk.)

Many thanks, everyone! Dr. Vinny, I can't get over that you recognized the talking Rodney Dangerfield doll!

I just liked your folksinger hat.

Yay for the disappearing A in the end credits! ;)
