The Dawn Patrol: Comments

Did a blog post from earlier today disappear?

Yes, Matthew. No one responded to its main point, and I felt I could articulate my point better than I had, so I figured it wasn't worth keeping. I saved it as a draft in case I want to improve upon it in future.

Ok. :-) In any case, congratulations on the honor. I hope you didn't lose your power briefly earlier this afternoon.

Thanks, Matthew! My site's server was down.

Hello Dawn,
I've been enjoying your blog since the Chesterton Conference. You certainly deserved the award, and you are in good company. Dale occasionally gives an even more prestigious "Lifetime Achievement" award to someone who has dedicated a lifetime to spreading Chesterton.
(You should have seen Geir Hasnes crying last year!)

okay... I'm still laughing at the depth of pun-ishment in this headline! The photo has more dental plaque than award plaque! LOL!

Hey, they're my puns, by gum -- and that's the tooth. Don't go looking for floss.

Congrats Dawn! What an honor. Your book is making such a difference in people's lives. Brava!

It figures they would give an award to the head of Dover Books. I've been a fan of that company since the 70s and through them became aquainted with the works of Mr. Chesterton.

Congratulations on the award. I was at the conference and I thoroughly enjoyed your talk.

I had read your book prior to the conference, but I purchased a copy at the from the book table for my 18 year old daughter and I noticed the other day that she was about 3/4 the way through it. She must like it because she is not a big reader.

We are going to start up a Chesterton society here in South Carolina, maybe we'll be able to get you down in the future to speak to us. God Bless

Congratulations!

Where is that wonderful Chesterton quote from?

The GKC quote is from the introductory essay "The Case for the Ephemeral" in his All Things Considered, a collection of GKC's columns for The Illustrated London News, for which he wrote a weekly column (1905-1936).

Dawn, it was a true delight to meet a wonderful niece of Uncle Gilbert and Aunt Frances! And don't forget to toast them today on their 106th wedding anniversary.

--Dr. Thursday

PS: In general, you can always use "The Quotemeister" on the ACS web site http://www.chesterton.org if you are seeking a GKC quotation.

Thank you, DoctorThursday.

I've just bookmarked that useful site.

Dawn,

One thing you share in common with Dale Ahlquist is that you both were introduced to Chesterton by rock musicians. Dale was introduced to Chesterton by Larry Norman, the godfather of Christian rock and roll.

Thank you for your book. It is a gift.

Peter

Great pic & quote!

& thanks for the reminder about the CD's...
