The Dawn Patrol: Comments

Please pray that my daugher Christina continues to recover from pnemonia. I will be asking my readers to return the favor, and pray for your intentions, Dawn.

Hi, Dawn, and all readers,
I am a long time reader of this blog, and Dawn, we have met. I am signing in anonymously because I ask for all of your prayers for my marriage.

My husband and I were married after only knowing each other a short time and at the time it seemed wise, but three years later it seems overwhelming.

We are having a very hard time functioning and we have small children. He is a very good person (although not a believer), but is suffering greatly. Perhaps it is merely from stress and unresolved grief, but possibly from something as serious as a personality disorder. He is not very keen on the idea of counseling, especially as we are broke and can't afford to see much of anyone much less the *decent* family therapist someone has recommended.

In honor of the Feast of the Holy Family, or just in honor of families everywhere, I ask you to remember my family. We need a miracle.

Dawn, I will also be praying tomorrow night and I will pray for all of your intentions, those personal and from the blog.

Please pray for my friend Nancy to become a mother.

I'll try to pray along.

Hannah

Please pray for me and my son A. His dad abandoned us almost 4 years ago when A was 15 months old. We've since been divorced but I get no child support and A misses the father he's never really known. It's heartbreaking when he cries for his daddy. I've dedicated my son to God and prayed that this coming year will be filled with less frustrations and more faith in God's provisions. Thank you and God bless you for a wonderful tradition!

Dawn, would you rememer for me an aquaintance who is anticipating surgery towards the end of January? (wink-wink). I'll be praying for her too, but 3 hours later!
Happy & Blessed New Year!

Dawn,

Could you please pray for step-father's health and his and my mom's financial situation. Due to adverse reactions to medication and adverse interactions between medications, he has been unable to work for over three months, but is being denied short-term disability by his company's insurance plan. Mom's job doesn't bring in enough for them to live on, so they've gone through their savings and are now borrowing from her retirement fund. I'm afraid they will lose their house.

Thank you.

Please pray for two friends who have advanced cancer.

I will also pray for all intentions on this list.

Thank you.

Dear Dawn:

Please pray for my sister who is far away from her Catholic faith. Well, many in my family are in the same boat, but she is the toughest case, as there is anger involved on a lot of levels.

I know my Mom prayed for her every day she was alive, and I've picked up where she left off.

God bless,

The gift of faith for my wife, and the grace for her to accept it. And complete healing for Dawn and all those facing serious illness.

Please pray that Dawn Eden maintains good health and happiness in the New Year.

Like Gary Keith's request above, please pray for the gift of faith for my wife, and the grace for her to accept it.

Please pray for me to be free from unchastity and the temptation to porn.

Please pray that I might finally become a Catholic this year (having put it off again).

For two friends of mine who are probably going to be divorcing.

That I conceive again soon and have a living, healthy baby.

Thank you so much.

Dawn,

I would cherish your prayers. I am blessed to expecting #5 but I genuinely need a divinely inspired attitude adjustment. I'm tired and crabby, am lacking that Christian joy that I typically count on and will need over the next few months.

And since Leticia is so generous with everyone else, can I add a prayer for her Christina to fully recover and quickly.

Thanks Dawn!

This Wednesday night my K of C council will be attempting to reactivate our Columbian Squires circle, a children's program. I'd like to ask for your prayers for its success so that we can carry on our work of bringing today's generation to be more active for our faith and our community.

R.F. - good luck with those Squires! If that program fails, don't lose hope... here is a coed program that growing fast and inspiring vocations (including my son!)

Meanwhile, I will pray for all of these intentions also. I owe many prayers for Dawn's readers, who helped me mcuh in my time of need.

I have a lovely friend who is entangled in a terrible sin.
She is divorcing her third husband, and already involved in an adulterous affair. The other guy is promising to leave his (second) wife, but she has no clue yet.

They sound awful, don't they? They need a lot of prayer... these are good people who have been seduced by the worldly message of love without commitment and revolving marriages.

They need to hear Dawn's message of chastity. Let's pray for them at the precise moment they enjoying their adulterous liason... New Year's Eve.

Thank you.

Dawn,
Please pray for my vocation with the Passionist Nuns in St. Louis, MO.
I have been accepted into the order, but I can't enter yet because of student loan debt. I've applied for grants from two Catholic organizations, and I am really hoping one of them is able to help. I long to be Jesus' holy bride forever and to help Him save souls. Please pray that Jesus will look past my sins and see the love for Him that lies deep within my heart.

For a wildly successful year for Ms Eden, and that her message might take off like wild fire amongst women everywhere.

I have several:

For my mother's (Michele) continued recovery after her stroke.

For my mother-in-law, Theresa, as she recently had a stress-induced seizure and learned she has diabetes at the same time.

For my cousin Jenny's pregnancy (she is expecting twins after a previous miscarriage and much trouble conceiving), she's due in May.

For my friend Kim who is also pregnant and suffers from a kidney disorder that makes her a VERY high risk pregnancy, she's due March 1st.

For myself that I may not have any serious complications with my delivery (baby's due Jan. 22 but could decide to come any time now). Thank goodness I've not had any complications so far.

we've got you on our list

My cousins, Sharon, Leigh and Teri, that they may come to know the Lord.

Please say a special prayer for my daughter and her new baby. Just before Christmas her husband walked out and they've moved home with us. A wonderful blessing for us, but so sad for them.

I'd appreciate prayers for my children, who are about to live apart from their father for over a year due to unforeseen circumstances.
Thank you.

I want to thank Dawn for her prayers last year for my daughter and grandbaby. I am sure that they were among the many that really made a difference. I will be praying for Dawn tonight.
Anonymous with the marriage issues, may I recommend either Retrouvaille or Marriage Encounter? Low cost, high yield, these programs focus on helping you communicate and to recover the love that inspired your marriage in the first place.

Dawn,

If you could please add my Grandma to your list. Her kidneys are failing and she has asked that nothing be done. Her family is having a hard time accepting her choice and letting her go...

Wow, this is quite a list of prayer intentions. Thanks for keeping me busy this New Year's Eve!

I just finished praying for those who e-mailed me their requests. Now, I am taking a break to watch a DVD of "Brief Encounter" and afterwards will pray for each intention posted here (as well as any others that pop into my inbox). I plan to end the evening with a rosary for all the intentions I've received today -- will probably finish around the time that the New Year begins on the West Coast.

This is really a beautiful way to ring in the New Year, and I am grateful for the opportunity -- thank you all.

it's 10 minutes till midnight here in the Central time zone. I was about to listen to Pet Sounds but I think I'll spend the next 10 minutes in prayer for the intentions mentioned above, and for you, Dawn. Your prayers for me and certain family and friends who need it would be appreciated; in particular for a rather lost friend to receive the gift of faith.

Prayed individually for each intention in this thread, and prayed the rosary for all the intentions I've received in this thread and via e-mail. Happy 2008!

I'm going to paste this thing and then I would like you to read it and in that context pray for me to learn how to think. I think the key is that we just see a fragment of life. I need to get over myself and personal salvation and be involved with the whole of humanity( in some way).

If I could unite with my brothers and sisters in Christ.... with all God's children, in some way

(that I don't understand) I would be happier?

Ok, here it is/// pray for me to understand that encyclical better and live the hope he writes about.

Jim T.

From the Pope's Encyclical

But then Augustine also says: looking more closely, we have no idea what we ultimately desire, what we would really like. We do not know this reality at all; even in those moments when we think we can reach out and touch it, it eludes us. “We do not know what we should pray for as we ought,” he says, quoting Saint Paul (Rom 8:26). All we know is that it is not this. Yet in not knowing, we know that this reality must exist. “There is therefore in us a certain learned ignorance (docta ignorantia), so to speak”, he writes. We do not know what we would really like; we do not know this “true life”; and yet we know that there must be something we do not know towards which we feel driven[8].

Dawn,

Please pray for my girlfriend and me, namely that we may overcome our chastity issues, and I may overcome my weaknesses.

Please pray for a friend of mine who's struggle with SSA led her to the church and is now leading her away.

I'm still checking this thread and will pray for the latest requests tonight. God bless you and happy New Year.

Jim t., thanks for pointing out that profound passage from "Spe Salvi" -- great food for thought.

Please pray for my son; he's making a difficult decision and reaching to achieve something difficult.

Prayers going out for the intentions of Jim T., Anonymous, and qwerty.

Just a little update on my group ... although we only had two boys tonight at our first Squires info meeting, they (and their brother) are enthusiastic about the group and will be actively recruiting other members. I'll also be giving a few sales pitches at a free throw competition tomorrow night and possibly soon at our parish Catholic school and our youth ministry.

Please pray that God will give me the grace and patience to handle this responsibility.
