Gravatar What I wish I had to post is a picture of my face after drinking that champagne during the France show. Tasted like _skunk_, y'all.

Gravatar We need to address Rob Derrick for that - came from his wedding. However it may have gotten skunked in Crox's car. Tasted fine to me, but thats not saying much.

Gravatar My god. It was maybe the foulest thing I've ever had to drink in my life. And that includes the Jagermeister you talked me into. However, the glass was kept as a souvenir, dated with a Sharpie.

Gravatar The wife almost suggested we go see the France (she knows DJ from way back at the FP) after we saw a flyer at Vision Video, but since we hadn't seen each other in nearly two weeks, hangin out at the Caledonia wasn't really in the cards (she'd been in Las vegas for a baby expo one week, then I was in Atlanta the next).

Rented Spanglish, Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, and Cowboy Bebop: The Movie. Spanglish was even worse than expected (even the wife didn't like it), HHGTTG was better than expected (since I haven't read the books in about, oh, 20 years, there was little for me to complain about, adaptation-wise), and Cowboy Bebop was pretty darn cool. Only just recently did I actually see this show; much better than the title would suggest. A co-worker is going to loan me DVDs of the episodes...

Walked the dogs along the Oconnee Greenway on Sunday and went to bed early. Woke up at 5 am this morning, drove to work, watched 1 and 1/2 Family Guy episodes so far, ate grits.

Thinking about a nap. How can I work that one out?

Gravatar How much space do you have under your desk KM?

Friday night at the Caledonia. Great job to the organizers, definitely one of the more unique nights there. The highlight for me was the France. Well, the first highlight actually was getting tipsy, then the 2nd highlight was the France. I really enjoyed the "best song ever" and the bass line on Champagne Jam is really hard to argue with. I only wish I had it in me to stay til the very end, but I was exhausted.

Saturday delivered all of our items to the Weir Circle evacuees and they were very grateful. Thank you guys for helping out!! I am sure it is terribly hard for them to ask for help.

Saturday night I saw Bloodkin, in their newest formation, as well as with Willie Tonks sitting in so that was cool. My favorite songs about NOLA almost had me in tears. So I put that energy towards waiting THREE hours for a haircut on Sunday, donations for the Red Cross. I think every young female at UGA heard about this as well. (Would have been a great place for guys to pick up.) Cleaned house the rest of the day and worked on a website. Watched the making of Dazed & Confused and slept harder than I have in a long time.

Gravatar BTW, google programmers are funny. My gmail is down and this is the error message I get: "Gmail is temporarily unavailable. Cross your fingers and try again in a few minutes. We're sorry for the inconvenience." LOL.

Gravatar Fri nite - Got Mailclerk drunk for his birfday (with a little help from others) and ate some BBQ - had quite the champage jam with the France, and met Boo for the first time and he was an extremely nice, sincere guy. Hung out with Jayne too since she's awesome.

Sat - slept till 2:00 in the afternoon, took Mailclerk to dinner for his birfday and ate some awesome steak. Had drinks at Room 13 and watched and giggled as MC used the 5 ball as his cue ball during pool (the best part of this was when the drunk homeless guy across the room saw it and jumped up saying "boy, ya ain't supposed to use the orange un as the cue ball -use the white one!" and offered MC pool lessons).

Sunday - finally got off my ass to take my recycling, and spent 15 minutes driving around the Beechwood shopping center as they have taken away the recycling bins. I thought I had gone senile. Where's the nearest recycling place, y'all? - my car is full of magazines and bottles and crap and I'm determined to get rid of them immediately. Spent the rest of the night doing chores, chasing a spider around my room and returning endless phone calls.

Gravatar Yeah, I wanted to make the afterparty too on Friday, but it was late as hell, and I was tired.

Gravatar I forgot all about watching Hillary and MC take those shots. That was good fun. By far, the drunkest I have seen bday boy MC.

LB- there is a recycling place off of College and ??, just north of downtown. There is also one on Millege by the loop in the Bi-Lo shopping center.

Gravatar And there are recycling dumpsters at Family Housing at the corner of Southview and Ag Drive.

Gravatar You're a lifesaver, Jayne. Thanks!

Gravatar Spent most of the weekend at Chase Park Transduction working on (and watching dozens of other people work on) the John Neff solo album. Sorry I missed everyone at the Caledonia on Friday. At the end of the night I did get out to the Go Bar to catch the Fabulous Bird set, which was great, much better than I expected. They used those low round tables as stands for the musicians, making it look like they were playing on Hullabaloo. And that wonderful DJing couple played a Mekons song for me afterward.

Gravatar friday - went to see junebug. if it comes to athens, you folks should see it.

saturday - took my fw shopping for her bday... while in the gap, heard of montreal playing on gap radio. ha!

sunday - went to seattle to see the seahawks beat the falcons. boo.

Gravatar got taken to a nice lunch friday by vet pharmacist.

then got it crunk that night with the help of LB and many other folks. champange jammed with the france. enjoyed roosters' wings a ton. their bbq could use some help, though. did i mention the france was awesome? thanks to boo for the arrangements and deej for the shotz and bringin' it. sorry to everyone else.

saturday, slept in. went to porterhouse care of LB. bad salads. wonderful steaks. place smelled a bit like football fan. but again, great steaks. great dessert at the grit afterwards (walking elsewhere for dessert is fun). played pool. i used 'played' lightly. i was out of it and what LB said was comletely correct. i rule.

sunday: baked chicken in lemon pepper marinade and orange juice - topped it with lime. man, it was great. highly recommended.

thanks to everyone for a great 4 days worth of birfday fun. the party continues next weekend.

Gravatar oh, also sunday got my hairs did courtesy of city salon and vet pharmacist (my wonderful gf) brought me back the best bbq ever from SC. we ate late-night 'que sandwiches. yum.

Gravatar I totally forgot about the City Salon thing, but I guess I'm kind of glad I did if the wait was that long. Anyone know of any other awesome deals on haircuts? Supercuts aside.

Gravatar I think I saw another haircut thing for charity in the Flagpole. MC, I was there for THREE hours yesterday and didn't see you there. I found out later you could sign your name and leave...oh well. I read the entire Guide to the Flagpole while waiting.

friday - went to see junebug. if it comes to athens, you folks should see it.

It's playing at Beechwood. Did you hear Kevn Kinney (STAR) song in the movie?

Gravatar jayne, i ended up getting my hairs cut after hours. know enough hair stylists and you get that.

Gravatar Jayne, you forget Mailclerk has connections all over the place. I'm gonna start callin' him godfather...

My favorite part of playing pool with MC (besides kicking his ass and winning 2 out of 3 games) was when he blamed his craziness on the full moon or something. Sheeeeyiiiitt!

I've had Champagne Jam stuck in my head ever since Friday. Thanks, France!

Gravatar what other reason could there be for forgetting to use the cue ball?

Gravatar neff solo record eh? i think we've already got the album title and cover art done for that one!

Gravatar FRI: my new -je suis france- tattoo looks great

SAT: sitting in the backseat of the bands rental car I watched the -new town drunks- guitarist get arrested for DUI in gainesville, ga. The cops let me walk home. An hour later the cops dropped of the drunken guitarist at my house explaining that out-of-town DUI's involving rental cars required too much paperwork. Seriously.

SUN: googled "tattoo removal"

Gravatar Holy shit. I know where I'm getting plastered this weekend!

Hey -- does anyone know where I can find video of Jon Stewart on the Emmys last night? A co-worker says i need to see it...

--KM

Gravatar man, you're always the person i ask about video stuff. if you can't find it, it usually isn't up. anyone ever locate the iron maiden stuff?

try ifilm for the stewart yet?

Gravatar iFilm was the first stop; no luck. Tried a couple Stewart fan sites, but nothing.

It didn't sound like a major event a la Kanye, but she said it was funny...

--KM

Gravatar Saw Motley Crue for all of 40 minutes Friday, due to Vince Neil not realizing that he's 20 years older than he used to be, and tearing a muscle doing a rock-star move.

Gravatar I thought he actually broke his leg.

Gravatar Haven't read the press since then, at the time Tommy Lee said he tore a muscle, but then Tommy Lee is a complete f'n idiot, so it probably was a break.

Gravatar But Tommy Lee went back to school...

(yes, guilty of watching an episode or two of that show.)

Gravatar thanks a ton to everyone for coming out on Friday, it made our night for sure. Champagne Jam will definitely find its way to a france ep soon, we had a friend there taping the show and he called me yesterday to say the recording turned out A++. Thanks for a fun night, and not leaving after the New Town Drunks - wha, whaaaa!

Gravatar Ween already covered champagne jam. they did it first. ha/ha

Gravatar but did ween power-pour the audience glasses of actual bad champagne while they did it?

Gravatar Fuck Ween, and long live the France is what I say.

Gravatar hey, the france is great. i dig em.

have you ever seen ween live LB?

Gravatar No, ROBO, I've never seen Ween live. I just felt like being belligerent for no real reason last night.

Speaking of, where the hell were you on Friday ROBO? I ate some of your salsa but you were nowhere to be found. I love that salsa - belated thanks to you for that.

Gravatar We went to CMJ 2005 and spread the word hammjamm around like wildfire! Saw a bunch of good shows but nothing mind-blowing really, except maybe the Anti-Social Music show which wasn't even connected to CMJ. The Hello Sir showcase was THE hammjamm. Those guys did an amazing job. I think a lot of Athenians don't realize how huge their shit is going to be.

Gravatar lucas, this makes my heart warm.
