Five inches of wet snow today, with a roiled sky, blue here and there with white and gray clouds stirring all around...the boulders below the waterfall across the pond are topped with ice caps, glistening in intermittent sun. One of the soldiers is here, and a few surviving family members.
The first Thanksgiving took place not far from here, maybe with similar weather. Nothing this sublime and mysterious and evocative can come from nothing, or an empty, immaterial void.
We are blessed. Thank you for all you do, too.

We can all thank God, eh? Altho the first Jews arrived in 1654, 34 years after the Pilgrims, they came for the same reason - religious tolerance. So yes, we can all be thankful to God for religious freedom.
And . . . one of my ancestors, Thomas Bloom, arrived on the Mayflower's 2nd trip across the pond. And I'm thankful for that too. . .
Absolutely, Julie. We can all be thankful to God for a nation that allows each person to decide matters of faith. Reminded my kids on Thanksgiving that this is not the norm -- in history or even now.
