Interesting take on this, DC, that the dominant theme here is Radical Islam, and not Christianity.
Although I haven't the chapter and verse handy, apparently the Qu'ran is minimally tolerant of doubt, considering it a character disorder, and not punishable as long as the doubter returns to the faith. If he doesn't, the scripture is fairly clear that execution is the remedy.
One way to look at the AP slant is that Rahman's "alleged" conversion is a nod to the criminal/theological codes of Islam, and might in fact help Rahman's case...but that assumes a degree of integrity and intelligence in the AP hive that is uncharacteristic of the drones of the yellow press Left.
The spin on Rahman's condition is that he's not completely lost, yet, and his conversion is incomplete or defective. He should, in any case, put on Groucho glasses and moustache and hit the road for the West. His life isn't worth a plugged dinar.
Karzai seems to be brave man, but he alone can't modify the doctrines of a "religion" that assumes jurisdiction over all mankind. I hope he survives this.
One more thing. Maybe Vicente Jorge Presidente Bush of MexAmerica can find some way to give Rahman a Guest Worker permit. What's one more when a million a year are streaming to those veggie fields in search of the good life.

I like Karzai a lot. I wish he were president of Mexico. Hey, I heard on the radio today an interesting take: Why should Mexico do anything to stop the flood here? They get rid of people they can't employ/take care of ... and we? Well, good question. A number of people are profiting. There's a lot in illegal immigration for a lot of people here ... but certainly not all or near close to most of us.
I think something will happen on the immigration front this year. The staged protests didn't hurt. The Mexican flags were a nice touch.

The moderates claim Islam is the religion of peace, yet everytime you turn around they are trying to chop somebodies head off.
They brainwash their young to kill the infidels, they recurit suicide bombers to blowup the infidels, they hate Israel, and they are the worst infidels of all, is there an addendum in the back of the koran, somewhere, a footnote maybe that says, yes, but we are a religion of peace after all the infidels are dead.
They killed Sadat, what makes anyone think Karzai's number hasn't already come up and the Imam's are just waiting for the right opportunity to punch his ticket.

Sometimes I think that God just sort of screwed up when he created the Middle East. They're so contradictive. What do they do when presented with a cartoon depicting Mohammed as a bringer of war? Do they form peaceful protests? A letter writing campaign? No. They blow shit up. Really smooth way to prove you're a peacefull religion.

Without realizing it, the Muslim fanatics continue to prove that their view of God and the world is wrong. And more people see it. They aren't as loud as the proponents of Islamist insantity. But they are there.
