Gravatar Welcome back, missed you.

Of course you go on vacation and while you are gone we all get invited to join Islam. I am way too busy to join up my new Victoria Secret catalogue came and not one burka in it. heh heh
My take on the two invitation videos is it was not meant for us, but to keep the so called “moderate Muslims” in line. Just an idea anyway.

I agree with you, I do not want the Dems to win in this election. It is extremely important we keep both Houses. This is very scary to me if we loose this. Not that the Republicans have behaved stronger with the power they have had, I wish they would have, but alas no. Fingers are crossed as I type this and prayers too. The Dems will finish off this country fast if they get control. Clinton did his best to try to and I never want to go through that kind of regime again. Ugh!

Anyway, welcome back DC.

Gravatar Thank you, WT. Great to be back, although real life is okay, too. Ha. Ha.

Sorry I missed the invite. That Muslim evangelism explosion is really ... well, an explosion, I hear.

Gravatar This is a terrific summary of the issues. Thank you for spelling it all out so clearly.

Gravatar Personally I think Bush has been digging the Republicans' grave with his pandering to the religious groups - particularly over immigration. How deep remains to be seen.

The religious groups will never vote for a pro-gay marriage, pro-abortion party. The worst they are likely to do is not vote at all.

But those "libertarian" republicans (for lack of a better word) would be the ones to make a protest vote over spending, border security, size of government etc. These are votes that could go to the other side.

And to me it seems Bush is doing a stupid thing in pandering to a base that is fairly secure at the expense of so many "swing voters"

I can't remember who said it but "If the Republicans were running unopposed, they would lose"

If the Dems weren't it the thrall of fuckwits and traitors, it would be all over red rover.

Yes, national defense is the big issue but voters can only be swayed by one issue for so long. How long do the Republicans have to run on this issue alone?

I hope I am wrong. We cannot lead the global war on terrorism ourselves. We need the US for that. And I just fear that might be put at risk.

Gravatar The Democrats are acting as if the House is in the bag. The Republicans are already mourning their loss of power. Can anybody spell sandbagging?

I suspect the Moonbats are in for a shocking Wednesday morning surprise. IMHO.

Gravatar DC,
Missed you, though glad you took the time off as I was concerned about the possibilities that this was not a hobby but an addiction. That would mean intervention and I am not sure you would like that. Let's focus on the important stuff now, like is your red shirt clean and ready for action. (not red state, red shirt)

Gravatar Greetings, AD, et al.

Hey, Tib., I don't think Pres. Bush is appeasing religious voters, so much, on immigration. It's more like liberal ones. More specifically, Hispanic ones. He believes in what he is doing. I don't. I am one of those religious types, but I still didn't fall off a turnip truck and know that the solution is more, not less, conservative Republicans.

Lucca ... Hope and think you are right. Cool blog, and welcome. Will get you added as an allied base.

KHix, The "worries" you expressed are why I want you to be reading. I am ready for action, but since this is Ohio State week, I may have to go alternate burnt orange on Sunday.

Gravatar From what I am getting down here (and granted it is not the ideal location) it appears that many church groups/organisations (along with the RINO's and liberals) are in favour of open borders, compassionate conservatism, and the expansion of government in the service of compassionate conservatism.

And it appears that is upsetting those who want a return to smaller government and greater fiscal responsibility.

That is what it appears like from Down Under anyway so please fill in anything I am missing.

Gravatar T,

It's some liberal Catholic groups who favor such an approach, but Bush's base (people like me) don't. Funny thing, he has always believed this way. It's not as if he is changing his tune for political gain. I just think he's wrong.

So far, conservatives in the President's party have saved him from himself on immigration.

Tib, You're a good bloke, even when you don't use profanity.

Gravatar And you're a fucking bonza bloke yourself DC

Gravatar I am not voting for any incumbents reguardless of party and may even vote for a third party candidate for my state's gubernatorial election. The Democrat Ed Rendell, who is the incumbent, has the state on a balanced budget. However, the state is still in debt, which was left over from the days of Tom Ridge. He has a weak stance on property tax reform. Although, I give him credit for trying to reform the proerty tax issue, but seems to give up too easily.
The Republican opponent , Lynn Swann, has an extremely unclear platform. He doesn't have much of a plan, except to unseat Ed Rendell.
The point being, neither have the necessary leadership skills to effectively run this state.

Gravatar Penn Prog.,

I advise you to follow your maxim -- no voting for incumbents -- whenever a Demo is the incumbent.

And violate it whenever the Republican is the incumbent. Sound good?

You make no sense. Vote for a third party and you waste your vote. Unless a third party is viable and has a chance to win (a la Lieberman) you are wasting your time and vote.

Gravatar cont. ...

Your philosophy sounds enlightened, but it's not. Being a governor has a lot to do with philosophy, and little to do with "management skills".

Rendell is a liberal and Swann is a conservative. How is this hard?

It is hard for the Perfect Church Crowd.

Gravatar Its been a while since I have commented. I started a new job and have not had much time.

I agree with your whole post. However, I would boil the national security issue down to it being a choice between treating the militant Islamists actions as acts of war vs. treating them as crimes. I am convinced that had we continued to treat them as crimes after 9/11 (as Clinton did) we would have been struck badly a number of times since 9/11.

I suspect (more a gut reaction than anything) that the race will tighten and that Republicans will not have as bad an election day as the press would like them to.

I would love to see the president take more control over the public discourse as we approach the election, like he did with the Gitmo announcement this week. That was a nice move - the moonbats don't look to good in the harsh (sun) light of reality.

Gravatar Cruise,

Spot on. Good to see you back. You hit a huge, and very impt. distiction re: treating jihadis as criminals vs. treating them as enemy combatants.

Right on. I think (and hope) you've got it pegged.
