Nico's an odd character. Most of what I know about her is pretty basic and gleaned from "Please Kill Me," the famous punk oral history put into book form.
But the stories about when she'd come to Ann Arbor and just sleep, fuck, and do drugs with Iggy Pop and his crazy band of loons were kind of mind-numbing. Perhaps it's reinforced because I work here and the town is hardly the freeform place it supposedly once was. But the idea of (these days), a model beauty coming to town to get hammered and sleep with a burgeoning rock icon is, well, bizarre.
Anyhow, I'm glad you decided to blog about your viewing experience. This is something I may have to watch. Following your IMDB link, I see that Danny Fields is one of the interviewees in the piece. As a non-rock star / producer, he had some of the most interesting observations in Please Kill Me.

The idea Ann Arbor could be the home of a burgeoning rock icon in and of itself seems a pretty bizarre thought today.
I don't think the documentary gives a full picture, but it left me with the feeling there isn't a way to have a full picture of her. Some people are like that.
