2005 Deaf Blog Awards

Gravatar I'm so sorry to hear someone is doing this. Can you tell me what the IP address is? I will ask my friends who is doing this and ask them to stop.

Gravatar It looks like *all* sidekick traffic from Los Angeles and San Francisco originates from 2.0.24.241. (SKs in Washington apparently come from 2.0.2.137.) I have no idea whether someone is stuffing the ballot box with multiple votes or whether we've got a lot of deaf friends who are all using their own SK's. Since SK users don't have unique IPs and a lot of deaf people can be expected to vote from their SKs you might want to disallow all voting from the 2.0.*.* subnet.

Gravatar Kathryn Hill, email me at Ridor9th@gmail.com -- but your promotion works. It is gaining your foothold in this contest. Good luck.

Gravatar Tongodeon, I'm not accusing anyone -- I'm concerned about the exploits of sidekick to rig the votes. To promote is good, but to rig from the same numbers repeatedly in matter of few seconds is not acceptable.

Otherwise, Kosmonaut is within her right to promote herself to win the Best Photo Blog. I say go for it.

Gravatar Emailed you.

Gravatar Sidekick's engine browser doesn't fully understand thry vote code and it create to allow vote more and more point without, like to accept the cookie and halt repeat vote. As it suppose be vote for once each ip address.

So, someone have found out that many vote from same ip which make too obvious is cheat.

Gravatar I am wondering how do you vote? If we have a sidekick, is there a way to vote from email it in to somebody? I don't want my vote disqualify by using a sidekick. Anyhow, best of luck on your poll and may the best sites win. Happy holidays. Please email me a response.

Gravatar oh hey? Deafness/Hard of Hearing - http://about.deafness.com/ isn't work.

Gravatar The correct link for Jamie Berke's Deafness/Hard of Hearing is at http://deafness.about.com/

Gravatar I'll correct it later in the afternoon.

Gravatar Not to be a sourpuss but Jamie Berke's site is not really a blog

Gravatar this seems to me to be a potentially dangerous policy. unless you have some sort of special method to prevent someone from being framed for cheating by a rival (or overzealous fan) who wants to disqualify them (i would hope noone is sleazy enough to do this, but you can't be too careful), it might be more prudent to discount all suspicious votes, but forego any total disqualifications.

Gravatar umrain, which is why I wanted to acknowledge to the participants not to abuse the flaws with the SK pagers -- if it is out of control -- obviously, someone has an agenda, you know?

So better to remove them altogether -- if it keeps happening!

Otherwise, happy voting!

Gravatar Whos the moderator?

Gravatar Me, C.

Umrain, after discussing with a friend, I came to decide that I'll let it slide -- but I'll continue to monitor the numbers of 2.0.*.* subnet -- and when it is over, I turn this to a friend of mine to tabulate and remove some 2.0.*.* subnet that may vote in matter of seconds. I do not think there is a need to make the reprisals on anyone else in particular.

Gravatar ridor, this is a good idea and i admire your initiative - but i wonder if it would be best for someone who does not have a blog to be moderator? that way you can ensure neutrality ... whaddya think?

Gravatar 2nd c, as much as I wanted to be neutral, someone has to start something somewhere else. Nobody wanted so I took it to create something new since many weblog awards are ignoring the bunch of deaf bloggers -- in fact, they declined my repeated suggestion to set up the deaf category.

ONe even made fun of Deaf people and suggested that if I wanted it, I gotta do it myself. So I did it.

And it is appalling that some bloggers (Look at KokonutPundits, for example!) agreed with someone else and claimed that it is not necessary to set up Deaf Blog Awards or something like that -- yet, he got himself in the contest?

It is my goal that after the first year, I'll organize something better and bigger -- perhaps include 5 people from all over the world. This way, it can be much better. But again, something has to start. I guess I went ahead with it.

Hope this helps a bit.

Gravatar Any way you can keep out the "Deaf Wannabes"??

You know, the HOH folks who do not fit in anywhere else, decide to be deaf for special occasions as this.

Gravatar Ridor,
Thank you for your clarification. I am sure you are going to keep your words because like you said, "Let's place nice and honest."

Gravatar How do we view the results of each group without vote?

Gravatar I don't think Blackcore should be in Best Geek Blog because most of these information aren't pretty geek to me. I think it's silly.
