"WHEN CAN WE START ''JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS''? You have to have the mat in order to do that (bad office space reference). On a more serious note, political correctness is killing our country. It is corralling us into stupidity and causing us to risk our lives unnecessarily. Has the FBI dropped the ball on another case? That remains to be seen. We have a country that supports the financial profiling of its people ala fico scores and other measures, we enlist the expertise of criminal profiling to help prevent future tragedies but alas our hands are tied when it comes to racial and/or cultural profiling. W. T. F. I'm guessing that might have saved more lives after the world trade center bombings and 9/11 even more so than sending our boys in harms way to fight for democracy for a country (Iraq/Afghanistan) that is quite content to continue existing in the 12th century. What an f-bomb waste of American lives for a handful of people whose ruling factions could give two shatners about 'democracy'. Meanwhile we continue to sell ourselves down the river because we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or offend any minorities. 'Minority'. Is that term even applicable today because it seems to me that those of european/caucasian decent are being outbred at breakneck speed. When we stop apologizing for living and sac up, things will start making more sense.

Obama's actions, or should I say, reactions, are also completely consistent with a faithful muslim. He could barely contain his delight. Arriving at Camp David as usual for evening prayers yesterday, he undoubtedly thanked Allah for the success of the mission.
Sickening.
God Bless our fallen and injured troops, and thank you President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush for being there quietly, discreetly, and compassionately. I miss you . .

My heart and prayers go out to all the victims, the victims family and friends.
From all the news reports it appears this Major is a career military man and that in his current position for less than a year and was not going well. He did not want to be deployed and in fact wanted out of the Army, so he paid back his military student loans and hired an attorney.
The reason may have been that he was being harassed and called names like “camel jockey ”. I guess all that sensitivity training for those with bigotry tendencies are all for not. (Can training real change the way you were brought up?)
Another reason is called PTSD by proxy, the stress of treating PTSD in other soldiers make you go a little crazy yourself. Its even more stressful because most of the higher ranks don
’t even believe in such thing as PTSD. Their denial prompts them to tell suffering soldiers to “drink it off.” Some civilians in the defense dept feel the same way no doubt IMO, it’s why hardly anything is mentioned of PTSD until one of these violent episodes occurs. These people see PTSD as a cop-out or an excuse. First we need to have an understanding that PTSD actually is real before we can ever hope to help treat it (does anyone believe that being shot at or killing your fellow man is not going to affect you in some way either then or in the future?). I guess with the high soldier suicide rate before and after deployment kinda takes care of the complaints from coming in (so those who said he should have just killed himself, well that’s already happening ). What real ticked me off when I heard that the military was trying to say that some soldiers coming back from this war with PTSD or other psychological disorders had “Pre-Existing Conditions” and that the military would not pay to treat them, I think it has been corrected but what a bunch of asses they break you and don’t want to pay, amazing.
The final issue is why does the military want to keep people in their ranks that no longer want to be there is it just sheer number? I mean is it ten percent, twenty percent. Is it that it is the only contract in the US that you can
’t get out of unless to kill yourself or kill your fellow soldiers? It does not make any sense to me.
I guess the Major could just be another wacko like Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nicholas, of course McVeigh was executed and apparently because Nicholas became a Christian he received a life sentenced. I real think if he gets that far the Major will get the former and not in a million years the latter.
This is so messed up, hopefully they will make some changes that make sense.

Major Hassan could have gotten out of the Army in a number of ways that didn't involve murdering those he counseled and took an oath to defend. He could have forgone re-enlisting at times when his contract with the military was up. He could have told them he was gay so they'd have to let him out. So there are some bigots in the military. What else is new? For every jerk that's enlisted you have more who are decent professional people.
His actions are indefenseable. He should have been flagged a long time ago if reports of his online support of Al Qaeda and suicide bombers was being monitored so yeah, there are some FBI folks and higher ups in the chain of command who probably should have jumped sooner at the chance of nipping this man's leanings in the bud. There is no excuse for Maj. Hassan's killings. None.

But that not the path that Terrorists take.

That's right, and burying our heads in the sand about who is threatening our lives and our freedom just doesn't make any sense.

I think we can start jumping anytime now.
It is important to remember that not all of the Moslems in the US armed services are insane murdering jihadists just because this one was.
But we can't bury our heads in the sand either.

I'm not advocating bigotry. I'm saying we need to act when we are given clues as to what may come. If people want to be stupid about it well, it's a free-ish country I suppose.

I've jumped!
Every single one of these, oh what should I call them, children of Islam? Should be profiled until we fetter out each and every last one of them and send them to the virgins.
How's that for jumping to conclusions B Hussain O?

Ok. What's not being understood here? I'm agreeing with Paul and with you. What I'm saying is that level-heads should strive to prevail, but that if we are being presented with the facts that someone is affiliated with or trying to become affiliated with a terrorist organization, they practice radical Islam and make it known that they are pro-jihad/anti-America then yes, shut them down with a quickness. I have to say that at this point in time, I am wary of anyone that even looks remotely like they follow Islam. I think it's a fair notion to consider that people who are not followers of Islam would be wary of their Muslim neighbors and that it is up to the Muslim community by and large to come out against radical Islam if they want to quell any of what they might consider unwarranted accusations. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and sounds like a duck then guess what? It's a duck.

Hi DD2 and thank you for another wonderful blog.
I see that my old and I do mean "OLD"
nemesis and "fan" Truth101 has put you on his "hit list" or should I say "shit list" along with me.
You should hold this as a recognition high esteem.
To be put down by the likes of him is an honor in my books. No self respecting American would even want to be caught dean on his blog. I'm sure that you feel the same way as I do.
Just mark it up as another piece of LIBERAL garbage from a self hating American. And a Obama ass kissing loyalist.
Take care my friend. And keep punching away.

One of the best achievements in life is to be put down by people you disagree with. Such as Truth101.
Its really no use sinking to that persons level. Thats what they want. They want to get a reaction out of you, they want you to feel bad and their intent quite likely was to hurt you. So, by responding with similar put downs against them really only plays into their plan and ends up hurting yourself.
The best way to handle someone like that simply say, Thank you for your opinion and then just leave it at that. This effectively ends the conversation. Theyre waiting for you to respond with anger or a comeback of your own and when you dont, theres nothing left for them to say. Its so important not to sink to that persons level by retaliating. That is exactly what they are looking for you to do.
No one likes to be criticized and its tempting to be sucked into their way of thinking, but don't let them get to you. Its their anger and frustration and they should deal with it, not you.
