Gravatar Wow, God has brought this text up a few times over the past year...Your sister and moi were talking about it the other week during our faith study. I think more and more in these times we need to pray for believers so we don't "fall away on account of me".
This past week I was talking about this text with a friend. A family member of his, has converted to Islam, after being 'convinced' Christians were/are hypocritical. That conversation makes me think how easily we are convinced that Christ is not quite enough. Our human nature wants more without truly understanding what we have. It makes me pray for faith in the church.
Praise be to God that John had the faith to believe Christ - to work past the doubt. May God increase our faith and remove our unbelief!
It is so interesting (and sad) what Christmas has become...I just caught a show on the radio giving all these tips on how to cope with your family during Christmas holidays. Christmas has be credited as a stressful time for families, due to family fights and differences. "It is the most wonderful time of year" plays in the background! Humans....we need God!
I so want to end this with a witty comment on gender roles, but I got nothing at the moment- sorry Dave!
Merry Christmas....don't get into a fight with you sister over Christmas dinner ok?

Gravatar Thanks for the wise words Pate.

Merry Christmas as well!

And don't worry, I'm more liberal than my blog sometimes appears (hey, I even advocated having a female PM...! .

The really interesting thing about John is that he started off so boldly and so strongly (Jn 1:29, "This is the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world;" Mk 1, "I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandals".) But this is the last we hear of him, the next thing we know, he's dead. So the last we hear from him is doubt - but I think we can trust that he got Jesus' message.

God bless!

Gravatar great thoughts Dave.
