After the Maurice Vellacott controversy erupted, I was looking for some info on Allan Blakeney (former NDP premier of Saskatchewan) who apparently made similar statements about the Supreme Court. And what did I find? This interesting tid-bit about Tommy Douglas:
from http://www.answers.com/topic/all.../allan-
blakeney
"Blakeney joined fellow former NDP Premier Tommy Douglas as a member of the board of an oil company. Douglas had served on the board of Husky Oil for 8 years after retiring from provincial and federal politics."
The NDP should think about that the next time they rise in the Commons to rail against Big Oil.

I can't remember when it was published (early 1990s?), or the author, but in the old Toronto Sunday Sun there was a very long column (maybe even a two-page spread?) written on this subject. Except it didn't tell you who wrote the thesis, in fact it even, purposefully, implied that it was written by Preston Manning's father. So you read through the piece about "a famous Canadian's father who was a Protestant minister and a provinical Premier" who favoured having French and Irish (I believe those were the ethnic groups) Roman Catholic women sterilized by the state because they had too many children, which causes poverty etc. thinking it was Manning's father, then in the last few column inches it reveals that it was Tommy Douglas's thesis. Just devastating.

The thesis is available at McMaster Univerity library. I imagine that there are other copies of it, likely at other universities. Other nasty T C Douglas quotes and ideas have been published in a handful of books, but those received scant attention. Remember, we live in a socialist MSM dominated world, and journalists just don't like pissing on their own parade.

The thesis is also available at the Saskatchewan Archives in Regina. It is shameful that the NDP/CBC are trying to make such an evil man into a hero. I have read the thesis, it is truly disturbing and obviously written by a very disturbed individual. The hatred this man had for women - he blames them for almost everything - is very upsetting. He should be removed from the Order of Canada.

If it's only 34 pages, perhaps it could be scanned in?

Surely if folks are uploading the latest Harry Potter, one should be able to scan and upload a 70-year old college thesis.
Not that I'm promoting copyright violation, but the people have a right to know.

It is my opinion that anyone posting the Douglas thesis in its whole on the internet would immediately be set upon by the Douglas family with the full support of the "progressive" class. For them it is not a matter of revenue, but a matter of supressing something they don't want out. Nobody would have any hope against legal action based on breach of copyright; simply put, it's against the law to post the thesis on the net.

I wonder what, if anything the law and the Douglas family could do about a poster who had no assets or income, ya can't get blood from a stone!
I know of a few people in this situation with nothing to lose who would love to take on the socialists on this..
Keep your eyes and ears open!

too funny, to piss all over the NDP with their own kool-aid (tm).
Is a copy of this 34 page "important document" available for sale as "historically important text"?
kind of like Mao's LIttle Red Book?

marc: I wish. Problem is that the thing is protected by copyright and can't be reproduced. Strangely, the Douglas estate has no desire to print and sell or make available multiple copies.
