Gravatar What's the purpose of these articles? I guess if you get off on junking Douglas for his own sake, more power to you. But wouldn't it be better to attack the programs and policies you don't like instead? I could give a flying flip about Tommy and I belong to the NDP. Talk about things that are occurring today.

Gravatar Todd: Tommy is part of the cultural indoctrination and historical revisionism that your "progressive" class has been involved in for decades now. Making sure that history is written honestly, is in many ways as important as current events. As an educator, I am especially disgusted with the creep of socialist doctrine and revisionism in schools. Children are being taught as fact, things that are either fiction, or debatable points of history.

I talk about contemporary issues all the time, if you visit this blog regularily you'd know that. If you aren't interesting in the truth about one of the NDP's icons, then we have no common ground.

Gravatar It is really funny (but not surprising) that these left wing twerps will say don't bring up the past when one of their heroes is exposed as a fraud but will gladly shoot their big mouths off about Mulroney this or Mike Harris that.

Gravatar So this is how the culture of tolerance and inclusion began, anyone who knowingly voted for him as a great Canadian ought to be ashamed.

Gravatar Bernie: I think that the lesson may be that politicians often become whatever they need to in order to get elected. Who knows if Tommy turned his back on his 1933 ideals, or if he simply burried them in order to get power. What is important is facing up to the fact that he was not the saint that the left makes him out to be.

It is also shocking how noisy the left gets over any transgression of the right, as they and the MSM launch all out attacks for any misstep; yet the same crew ignores much worse from its own. The MSM is particularly to blame in this regard.

Gravatar Tommy's affection for eugenics matched that of Dr. Mengele and other new world utpoians of their day....all these demigods felt a divine calling to make sure only the "right" people servived or were allowed to reproduce. Tommy was also a compatriot of the prototype one world government types ( progressives) of the 20a-30s who belived that population control was a function of government...one sick puppy....read his biography and you can see how his childhood traumatization of "being poor" and his ambitious drive to be peer dominant to compensate plagued his personality, politics and thinking all his adult life.

Tommy was a traumatized personality who adopted "shocking" new errant philosophies in an attept to get back at the establishment that had mocked him as a child for being poor and "wearing rags"...he went after the staus quo with the verve and demagoguery of an evangilist preacher after converts...he would evangelize himself an army and shape them politically to deconstruct the class sytm he percieved had slighted him as a child.

Tommy is actually a life long psychological study of a text book tramatized personality disorder.....and I'll be damned if I turn my reproductive freedom or property over to the disciples of such a twisted little wretch.

It's ironic that Moe Strong's life long obsessions with wealth and socialisms classless authority is a direct result of his traumas growing up poor in the depression and being the son of impoverished immigrants...his sickness came from the smae crucible as Tommy's poor western families disempowered by the ruling class anglo elite in central canada......where Tommy set out to besiege it and deconstruct it...Moe set out to buy and own it.

Gravatar LOL. He's not my hero. My god, do you think all NDP'ers worship the ground of someone who died long ago. Sorry, I live in the present.

Gravatar Living in the present is good, Tom. It is also good to have an accurate view of the past, it helps one plan wisely for the future.

Gravatar Todd said" My god, do you think all NDP'ers worship the ground of someone who died long ago. Sorry, I live in the present."

You won't believe me Todd, but I was once where you are (in headspace) a few years ago....well actually when Ed Broadbent ran the party....I was active in the regional riding association council and also a union steward in my local.

Tommy's writings were standard reading in dopper leadership camps and most of his ideas on the purpose of government form core dipper platforms. It's what drove the Dipper support for decrim/free abortion and free birth control clinics ( part of Tommy's eugenics thesis that holds that it is government's job to control the population....and Dippers carry this to the UN withe the other global population control/planning ghouls) It's what drives the draconian legislation for popultion control ( now with the happy face of "sustainability" masking it's ugliness). Tommy's "thesis" on government continues to drive the social extremist-menshevik dipper rationale for retaining broken unsustainable one source government medical care.

Tommy's finger prints are all over dipper policy...and obviously his political ploy of masquerading statist authoratarianism as average Joe populism has turned a crass political ploy into a popular mythology which a revisionist left media loves to repropagate.....frankly knowing what I do about the man and his ideologoes and motivations and the party dogmatism, I hurled when I saw so many dumbed down Canadians were duped into rewarding this demagogue with "the most important Canadian" award ( even though the liberals have political interest in promoting Douglas as an Icon of humanist social policy to obscure their gross mismanagement of public programs like health care)...it again shows me that Canadians are mostly ignorant of their own history and politically naive.

I love your justification about "living today"....it sounds like a denial mechanism or estrangement rationalization that I would have made when my Dipper dogmatism was challenged by fact...fortunately my libertarianism and objectivity and passion for true civil populism were strong enough to allow me to research the challenges made to dipper dogmatics and come to the conclusion Dipper dogma is mainline Douglas statist utopianism wrapped in a new phoney populist package....I bailed on these hypocrites when I saw the governments they formed in Canada to be more uncivilly controlling and kleptocratic than the other 2 old line political cabals.

BTW: Now that Bob Rae is back in the lime light it would be timely to review his corporate background as a protege of Moe Strong ( his real life godfather) and his brother David....the Rae family along with Strong are all members of the Desmarais powercor corporate feudalism system we have suffered under for 3 decades. Interseting how Bob the Dipper turns Liberal and ends up being fiunded for federal leadership by Desmaris powercor...not so fu

Gravatar Damning stuff, though surprisingly conventional. John Robson has a piece up on his site about how Trudeau's views were rather conformist. Seems the same for Tommy Douglas. Many educated people accepted beliefs quite similar to those espoused in Douglas' thesis.

On a side note, the term imbecile and moron were developed in the early 20th century to classify people whose IQs fell within certain ranges below the median/mean of 100. So, in fact, Tommy was using correct terminology. Still, collectivists are collectivists and the rights of individuals, subnormals or medical doctors, don't amount to a hill of beans in TC Douglas' world view. NOT DEAD ENOUGH.

Gravatar In the conclusion, I covered the fact that 'moron' and 'high level moron' as used by Douglas were within keeping in that period of time. But, Douglas' lack of empathy and compassion are telling, as I explain in greater detail in conclusion as well.

Gravatar Yes, this Tommy Douglas regime compares to the Backwater, small Canadian Province, Nova Scotia.
Weird, a dejavue kind of thing, Nova Scotia and it's elected and unelected, ;Associates,; have practiced the Douglas thesis since at least, 1986, and continues today, 2006.

Disgraced former PM of Canada, Jean Chretein is the 18th child of the 19, born to his family..interesting...according to The Douglas Theory, this Chertein family would be considered,......
sub-normal.
hmmmm, after Gomery, one wonders, the truth of Douglas's Theory, very intersting, indeed.
