I've noticed the RCMP and OPP have become "Employment-Equity" wings of the Government and even in Toronto the cops are now looking like the little squirts from my school that had a chip on their shoulder for being short and wanting to get-even in life.
The facts show female officers requesting Back-ups in 90% of the cases for intrevention, male cops are about 15-20% dependant on help to defuse a situation because of the intimidation factor for size.
But lately even the men are looking like kids playing cops , plus thanks to lawyers and Law suits by criminals the cops are reluctant to use the gun just from the paper work and investigation.
The new angle by Police forces is to promote the "Respect the uniform"
idea as if a 280 lb 6"4" drunk male will follow order from a butch dyke cop that's 5'6" and 135lbs and has a attitude issue with hetero-males .

James:
It's all about law and order, and the uniform and gun being a symbol of that concept...not the individual inside. The cop used to be an ally of all citizens, the person we hired and trained to do our dirty work for us.
Now most citizens don't think law and order is a citizens' problem anymore. Decadence, indeed.
Cops being disrespected by both the Ontario government (citizens) and the criminals is a sign of a sick society.
Remember when the ratio used to be one riot, one Mountie?
We're going to have to fix this, as individual citizens, and soon, or it will get even worse.
Personal responsibility is a concept we are losing, and this Caledonia thing is just one manifestation.
