Superb post.
You might like to look at the "Update" at this post at "The Torch":

Thanks Mark, I'll be linking the Torch piece on tommorrow's mediaright oped. I read a lot of oped and news today but couldn't find hardly a squeak about the UN requests... funny how suddenly UN mandated requests aren't considered important...yet prior to the Iraq War, all we heard from utopians was "It's not UN sanctioned". Now, UN sanctioning means nothing.
I wish I could change and discard my viewpoints with the ease with which the left does... and the MSM for that matter.

well, ( chuckle) what else did you honestly expect from the MSM?
I can't believe their B.S. and bias any more than you can, but as sick and disgusting as it is, so we taketh and be knowing that freedom of expression and stupidity are not mutually exclusive. I'd like there to be some sort of "media-police" to ensure that there is always balanced reporting, or even little red or blue stars on each reporter's articles to signify the writter's bias, but alas, there isn't.
The real irony is that the freedom of the press and other freedoms we all hold so dear are hard-won from the sacrifices of our soldiers in battle. What we need is a lot more Rex Murphy types and some sort of incentive for them to begin doing their jobs like the profesionals they profess to be. (how about tell the truth, without any bias or get fired!....just a thought)
Long live bloggers such as yourself and the Blogging Tories. I would never know what was really going on out there if it weren't for all of you.
P.S. I regularly send these posts of yours and other's to my ass-hat NDP parents. They are Dippers since the days of the CCF and my Mom actually played softball with Tommy Douglas's daughter....the one recently in the news. Unfortunately, they still think the NDP is all, and only, about medi-care and worker's rights...I feel sorry for them.

arctic_front: tell your parents that one of the writers of this blog was once a die hard NDP supporter. I used to live, breath, and vote, NDP.
I came to a point though, mostly through the reading of history, where the NDP line just didn't fit reality... it was wonderful theory... but history told that it just aint so. It took an evolution of sorts, but here I am... a raging red eyed warmongering neo-con rightwhinger... LOL.
Thanks for visiting... and be sure to comment more often.

Our press has also not mentioned that UN Security Council Resolution 1707 (2006) of Sept. 12 approved unanimously the extension of ISAF's mandate, under Chapter VII, and:
http://www.un.org/News/Press/doc.../
sc8826.doc.htm
"2. Authorizes the Member States participating in ISAF to take all necessary measures to fulfil its mandate..."
See this guest-post at "Daimnation!":
"Jack Layton demands Canada withdraw from the UN"

Remember, Chretien was against Canada's taking part in the UNSC-approved first Gulf War.

To this extent, Afghanistan is a Vietnam: the NATO military is winning steadily on the ground while the anti-war, anti-West, anti-American Western MSM are steadily doing their best to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Again, like Vietnam, if this works and NATO are compelled to withdraw and cede the nation to the Taliban and Al Qaeda, the Afghan people will be the big losers.
So...who are the most insidious enemies here? The Taliban or the left-wing MSM of the West?

arctic_front I know EXACTLY what you mean!
I'm the black sheep within a family of NDP'ers & pacifists.
They would all like to believe that I'm simply "uninformed" & don't understand the issues. Well, all I can say is that for almost a year now I've been reading, discussing, & blogging with people from just about every ME country/ethnic group & from every part of the political spectrum.
And where does my family get all their news? The CBC & nothing else.
The most amusing situation recently was during a heated debate regarding the war in Lebanon. When they pressed me for the source of my information I smugly replied 4 Lebanese bloggers, two Christian, one Palestinian & one Shiite.
"Why, you want to talk to them also? Here you go, one's online now...."
That ended the debate without speaking another word!

Chris - what a great way to end the debate! And how typical of NDP groupthink to not want to confuse their beliefs with on-the-ground facts.

“The present theme being drummed out of British media these days is that the British army is (one) going it virtually alone in Afghanistan (two) British troops are at the end of their wits and capacity (three) Britain is cleaning up an American mess (four) America is tucking tail and running. From subtle innuendo to outright fallacious commentary, it is hard to believe how any British citizen would not believe the above; they simply have no choice based on what is being constantly told them. In the rest of Europe, it is much worse.”
I see this everywhere. It is commonly believed by many – including Canadians, I’m afraid, that the US has abandoned Afghanistan. They would be surprised to learn than there are still 20,000 US troops there, versus 5,400 British and 2,500 Canadian. And who supplies most of the air support and logistics? See:

Nevertheless, this myth-making fulfills an old desire by anti-Americans to say that the world has to always clean up US-made messes.

Very good . . .
A clear picture for all.
Pulling together requires that North Americans have a clear concept of this quickly moving advance of the enemy.
Unlike the sixties, MSM today is a fragmented mix of news and fluff events gushing at as in a big jumble.
There is not enough *connecting of the dots* and people are watching Friends or Bart Simpson instead of Fifth Estate or Passionate Eye.
Without a clear picture for everyone, we have a major problem.
Al Jazeera has provided a clear and unifying picture for the antagonized Muslim world.
Muslim gangs killing Police in France in more frequent clashes.
Gendarmes request armored vehicles and battle equipment
Clashes occurring now in the Windsor area UK.
Musharraf allows Al-Qaeda and Taliban sanctuary in Pakistan; completing muti-Billion$ pipelines to China and Iran both.
China has longstanding worries about insecure sea delivery of life-blood energy.
North Americans should be made aware of the rate of growth of our problem.
Do we wait for a big bang; the interruption of all programming, and a message from the president? = TG
