It's great seeing a view of the war(s) as they look North of the border. More, though, you have great diversity of content and the posts are interesting.
I've included you in the first edition of Surfer's PARADISE

...Germany, a nation of navel gazers.
On one side, I don't blame them, namely their heritage and past World War records, but on the other hand, time to move on and keep the balance.

So...a lot of Germans learned a lot of lessons from the Second World War; all the wrong ones and none of the right ones.
While I reluctantly acknowledge the sincerity of many of those German pacifists, I nevertheless find the philosophy of pacifism intellectually and morally bankrupt.
Pacifists are free not because of their philosophy but because other men and women (of what used to more confidently be called Western Civilization) were and are willing to fight, and if necessary to die, to preserve freedom for the free and give freedom to the oppressed.

It is unfortunate, but in our 50+ year effort to demilitarize Germany (while at the same expecting them to be the bulwark of NATO'S defense in Europe..) we created a reluctant partner. One who while technologically savvy, and equipped to fight the wars of the 21st century, has no real stomach at the federal level to send their forces into combat.
One would think that a motivational cause to rally around would be in fighting the good fight, to show how force can be used in a constructive and necessary way.I think the German people would rally to that end.
Unfortunately, it may take a wake up call in the form of a terrorist attack to really get the German populace to see the light..their failed immigration policies will almost ensure that will happen..

"those in Afghanistan doing the real fighting. American, Canadian, British, Australian, Dutch, and Danish forces carry the burden of the killing war."
You forgot the Romanians. They have (had?) a battle group in Kandahar.

L.J.Brooks: And I also forgot the Aussies with their SAS. I tried to be inclusive of all those in the South with the wording ... but would've been better just to name them all. The main thrust of my post was aimed at the Germans ... not at those who are in the dangerous South and Border regions.

There are also the Poles, and the Bulgarians who appear to be replacing most of the Romanians:

Hmmmmmm, sounds like we need to revise the term French surrender-monkey to German surrender-monkey, or Italian, ect.
Also new joke: For sale, German assault rifle, never fired, dropped once, slightly rusty.
