The money quote: "...Two thirds want the government to do more but nearly as many said they were cynical about government policies such as green taxes, which they see as 'stealth' taxes."
As Lincoln said, "You can fool all the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all the people all of the time." It appears the AGW con-men in the UK have reached their maximum con factor. More and more people see a "for your own good" tax as what it is, a revenue-enhancement-goal tax. Picking the taxpayers' pockets under the veneer of "for your own good".
Meanwhile, in another article in the Guardian, entitled "Put oil firm chiefs on trial, says leading climate change scientist", NASA scientist James Hansen calls for the criminal prosecution of evil oil company executives who cast doubt on Apocalyptic Global Warming. He's going to testify about this nefarious activity before a scientifically ignorant Congress. Obviously these oil execs are guilty of a doubleplusungood, Crimethink!
(I wonder if this so-called "leading climate scientist" is one of those NASA scientists to be laid off in the near future with the upcoming winding down of the Space Shuttle program. I further wonder if he's attempting to ease his way into a lucrative position in the Apocalyptic Global Warming global con game...)
