Lest I be seen as defending the hyprocrisy of La Belle Province, let me propose a clarification on your above point. The Quebecois aren't pacificists - recall their support for the Korean War - they're merely isolationists. They don't realize they're part of a country called Canada and an increasingly integrated world. They're the most self absorbed spot in North America outside of the two national capitals.

I think that the Quebec of the Korean War era is long gone ... Quebec now is Euro-snob lite ... and so deluted with immigrants who have absolutely no grasp of Canadian history and culture that Korea etc. mean nothing.
I personally believe that hardly a human alive is a true pacifist ... steal somebody's cookie, and almost all will fight to get it back; even the Quebecois.
