Gravatar I hate to get all picky, but there really was only one Hitler. The idea that since Hitler was dangerous and untrustworthy, then everyone who is dangerous and untrustworthy is exactly like Hitler, is idiotic. And it leads to the dangerously false conclusion that, if someone is visibly unlike Hitler, they can't possibly be dangerous or untrustworthy.

Gravatar No, you miss the point that Hitler was not unique.

As for Sen Obama, like Mr Chamberlain, he views foreign affairs through the wrong end of a municipal drain.

Cheers

Gravatar I'm not "missing the point". I'm disputing the point. There are a lot of dangerous and untrustworthy people kicking around. They are all very visibly unlike Hitler. Hitler was unique.

Gravatar Hitler was NOT unique in any way ... there have been tens of thousands like him. The difference is the historic context ... things aligned just right to give him power; usually his many clones end up as wife beaters, bitter old men, or in jail. From a psychological perspective, there were and have and will be many Hitlers ... it's the historic situation that was unique though.
