I'm not a card carrying member of any party, but I sure know how to write a letter. In fact I wrote one to my MP a month or two ago about this, and I'm thinking I might write a second one.

While the silence of the government is cause for concern, I suspect there is a strategic dimension to this. If the Prime Minister or any senior minister were to come out against the CHRC, they would be against "Human Rights".
The MSM, Liberalsphere and Leftards in general would finally have a solid hook to hang their attacks against the government, since this is an issue which can easily be hijacked and rational discussion overwhelmed. Look at how the "Progressives" have set up the playing field; it will be cast as an attack on "Human Rights" rather than censorship or abuse of power. We already see bloggers in the Liberalsphere equating Freespeechers with neo-Nazis, so it isn't too difficult to imagine the rush to judgment when the government finally does weigh in.
As a guess, the strategy is to allow the story to grow and swell, until large numbers of people across party lines begin to openly react with disgust at the antics being highlighted on Ezra Levant's website. Keith Martin's motion acts as the ground wire; if a Liberal member is the one to propose the motion against part of the CHRC, then the MSM and Leftards will have much more difficulty smearing the CPC.
So in summary, do your part to denormalize the CHRC by writing to the media and your MP and MPP (especially if they are Liberals or NDP members!). Host town halls, blog about it and generally set the stage where the "progressives" have been outflanked and Prime Minister Harper can make his move.
Patience is a virtue to be cultivated.
