The answer is simple, DI: Newt won't run!

I know you're absolutely correct, Gayle. But isn't that peculiar in itself? He obviously recognizes the need for real leadership and coherence. Why would he not step up to the plate?

Newt's personal life would be a killer in a national race. And his behavior after the '94 elections - I wanna be in the front of the plane! I wanna be in the front of the plane! - turned off a lot of Republicans.
He cooked his own goose. He might make a good Prez, but I really think he's unelectable.

Benning, that turned me off at the time, too. His personal life? A catastrophic personal life was OK for Bubba... But if that truly renders him "unelectable", what makes Obama or McCain "electable"? Who made up this whole "electability" factor in the first place... Conservatives? More liberal benchmarking that we have become accustomed to accepting.
I find their words and deeds drastically more damning. Look at the issues, one after another, that McCain has stood defiantly (pardon the pun) opposing Conservative positions... and smiling about it. He enjoys poking fingers in our eyes. I'm sore, but not yet blind. And I am certain I don't have to read off the roster of his offenses to someone as sharp and informed as you are.
We need a leader that confronts our enemies without folding to liberal PC'isms. We need spine and venom. I could care less about their personal life (isn't that why it is called "personal"?). There is no such thing as perfection... but what we are left to choose from now is light years off the mark IMHO.
Yeah, I know... IMHO. OK... we're stuck with this abominable mess. Ugh. God, but this sucks so BADLY!

You know I like your brain and your incredibly great attitude, Benning... even when we disagree. And that's prolly pretty rare. Thanks for visiting, Sir. My respect for you is large. Very large. Take good care.

Just remember, D.I, that the rules are different for Democrats and Republicans. Slick Willie was a sleazebag of the highest order, but the MSM and the Dems loved him and protected him. Not so any Republican caught doing what Slick Willie did.
So, yes, Newt is unelectable. It's a foolish benchmark, but Republicans have to be a whole lot better than Democrats to even be considered for national office. And I know you've noticed that when scandals erupt Republicans are "outed" with their party affiliation; Dems are not. And the sheeple go blithely on.

I'm late to the table to comment on this, but Benning is right. Newt Gingrich is not running because he knows he has been permanently and irreversibly ill-defined by the liberal media.
But God bless him. Thank heaven there are people like Newt willing to talk in blunt, realistic terms about the threats facing the west. Hopefully we shall not have gone too far down the road to destruction before our governments start to listen.

Yeah, sure we will... It will magically evaporate everything McCain has said, done and promptly voted for... or AGAINST. I continue to be astonished at the eagerness of "Conservatives" to swallow his new dawning sunrise. McCain wouldn't know true Conservatism if it rose up and bit him squarely in the ass.
We are relegated to winning this election by proving the incompetence of our opponent... historically a very fruitless position to operate from.
I appreciate your visit and effort to comment (and I do mean that), but I surely do not agree. On the other hand, it is not required that I agree with anyone. If you can tolerate my committment to responding honestly, you are welcome anytime you wish. You will find my writing efforts have dramatically diminished lately, though. I am leaning more towards preparation for an Obama nation rather than talking.
Best to you, Sir...

Ralph, I gave your blog a quick (very pressed for time today... sorry) review and was delighted with what I saw. I will simply have to find some time to read more of your work.
However, the reason I decided to comment here again though... it was to sincerely convey my heartfelt appreciation for your service to our country. Thank you, and may God bless you.
