God loves TX Republican born agains enough to smite their evil Democratic foes, not.
Loved the insight-link about his drunken past, Dana, you are the whiz-kid blogger best.
Delay is also an avid golfer, playing on the best courses in the world as often as his junkets permit.

Thanks for calling me a kid. At my age, that is a high compliment.

The Delay-worm has attacked democracy itself with his schemes and scams. He speaks to what the Republican Party is really about these days. Too bad the dems aren't offering a credible opposition.....

Dana, small correction:
"The districts redrawn, DeLay’s next move was to get money to the prospective Republican congressional candidates"
Per your source, the next move was to raise money for Texas State House candidates.
this is a State case. Texas state law bars corporate and union money for State candidates (federal law governs federal races - congres)

a little background:
in the 80's and 90's there was a shift in Texas Politics. R's won all the state wide races, but the State house (and congressional delegation) was still majority D.
The R's looked around and realized that it was because the D's drew the district maps.
So the R's concentrated on winning a majority in the Texas State House so that the could draw the maps at the next scheduled redistricting. That effort included DeLay's TRM PAC.
The R's succeded in electing a majority to the State House.
New maps are drawn and voted into law.
a judge throws them out
New new maps are drawn
the D's play hide and seek
eventually the new maps are passed
next election more Rs are elected to the state house and to congress.

Oh:
Nobody should doubt that the Dems also, when they can, jigger the districts to favor themselves. They certainly do it in Delaware.
But Delay seems to have taken it to a new level, and publicly...

Wow, good article, Dana. I had forgotten some of this stuff, like the Albo Pest Control thing.
I also hadn't realized to what extent Delay had used Federal resources to try to locate the missing Texas Democrats. I had heard he contacted Homeland Secrurity, but not the other agencies. That's really, really scary...
I love how Delay is calling the indictment 'political'. Funny how they act when the shoe's on the other foot. When he and his ilk went after Clinton with such zeal, they adamantly claimed it wasn't political, but about Good Character, Respect For The Law, Official Misconduct, etc...
Calling an indictment 'political' is the last refuge of a scoundrel. Cf.: Gordonbery.
