DELAWARE WATCH

I was just perusing other blogs when I came across yours...this is quite a story and one that just repeats itself....of course here in California we had Enron....and our electricity rates are still sky high....I think our political leaders are becoming even more corrupt than usual...they are not working for the people and voting themselves pay raises even as they fail to raise the minimum wage...good job with your blog..........

Dana,
This post is not bad and has some merits. However, do remember it took more that Roger's vote to get the bill passed. Was everybody alseep at the wheel? Should thye all be held accountable? If Roger step down because of what you report, then he is a better man then those in Dover that are in denial. So he penalized himself.

The only part of your post I don't agree with ,is dragging Brian Moore into it. Now your post seems nothing more then a campaign ad for Richard Korn.

I have news for everyone, Brian Moore represents the new Republicans with more sensitivity to the discouraged democrat voters. Yea, the party hold the ruling Delaware party but they are in the same boat as you and I with piss poor state democratic leadership. Highways, schools, jobs, and health are all falling apart.

Gravatar Brian Moore represents the new Republicans with more sensitivity to the discouraged democrat voters.

YIKES, a compasionate conservative!!!

Head for the hills !!!

I mean - hold onto your wallet - and head for the hills !!!

Dana,

Have I mentioned that you should be a Democrat?

I kid.

Gravatar "Brian Moore represents the new Republicans with more sensitivity to the discouraged democrat voters.

Jason, it is amazing that some Republican are waking up ! It'a about time 1 I've take you actual met with Brian to pass your judgement as poltically you have nothing to judge him other then being Roger's friend.
Was Roger to support an enemy to run for his seat?

Gravatar Dana, this is a hell of a post.

Gravatar This is very comprehensive. Well done. A great job Dana. Please keep up the great work that you do.

Gravatar "YIKES, a compasionate conservative!!!"

Jason, the term compassionate conservative exists because W mouthed it hypocritically. He is neither, but, more truthfully, an over-entitled, under-educated "corporate cronyist." (there, I keep inventing these great political terms and yet I'm ignored in my own time).

But, during my lifetime, the term "conservative" generally denotes a belief that lower taxes are better than higher ones because lower taxes tend to create a healthy business climate (which leads to wealth creation) and an accompanying skepticism about the ability of government to engineer positive social outcomes by wealth redistribution, etc. Conservatives also tend to lay great stress on personal responsibility, as opposed to sociological explanations of behavior.

The historical "data" on whether or not these attitudes lead to a better society are brutally ambiguous, and what "conservative" means in terms of foreign policy is much more complex and varied. But let's leave that aside for the moment.

There are no necessary grounds in our history for branding people who believe in these simple premises, uncompassionate, even if many conservatives are pricks (many liberals are also pricks, by the way, and they were much louder and more numerous when liberalism was culturally ascendent). So, I challenge you to show that the term "compassionate conservative" is a conundrum, even if George Bush used it cynically.

Further, while I cannot vouch for Kilroy's friend, I know from browsing "Kilroy's Delaware" that Kilroy, though he meets the criteria for being a true conservative, is very passionate about kids who lose out in the "achievement gap." This suggests compassion. Right?

Gravatar Hey, the above post (the windy response to Jason) was from me. Dana, you didn't change my default settings, did you?

Gravatar " I know from browsing "Kilroy's Delaware" that Kilroy, though he meets the criteria for being a true conservative, is very passionate about kids who lose out in the "achievement gap." This suggests compassion. Right?"

Puzzler, I pretty much have a hard time figuring out what I am. I pretty much call it as I see it however, I do hold back from ripping so repubicans (my party) on these blogs. Not for sake of being a team player but becasue, I may differ with them on certian issues however agree on others.

I do comunicate with many legislators and express my concerns. I keep up on all the new proposed legislation regard education and put my two cents in to both democrats and republicans. My E-mail "many" times are adressed to both. I do get prompt responses.

If you looks at the regular commentors on Dana's blogs and many being the same commentors on other blogs, who are we ? Nobodys ! However, we all have the coruage to speak out and express ourselves.

We all share one this , we all are compassionate about ove views and we all take turns pushing some emotional buttons to provoke others.

Me, it doesn't break my heart what people say or even if they trash me, I don't get into personal bickering becasue its a waste of times. I really don't get offended.

It is hard sometimes being a republican but I know the democrats are not the the party of the people either. I think the deregulation issue of energy speaks for it's self, they all screwed us. If Roger Roy is stepping out because of the presure, then he is more a man then the rest of them who have the nerve to stay after screwing us all.

However, Roger is hitting the 30 years marks and it is time for him to move on and enjoy life.

Sorry to say, Bush has ball, but sometimes I agree with Jason. The man ain't playing with a full deck.
I think his elevator gets stuck between floors every now and then.

We'll it 2 am back to be 3 more hours this poor Republican has to get up to go to work!

I was just up and my ears were burning walking pass my computer.

Gravatar "Me, it doesn't break my heart what people say or even if they trash me, I don't get into personal bickering becasue its a waste of times. I really don't get offended."

I've noticed this. I think what I was angling at, more importantly than defending you or quibbling with Jason, a larger point about the propensity in our political culture to characature folks' positions rather than to argue with them at face value.

Gravatar "political culture to characature folks' positions rather than to argue with them at face value."

Interesting point.

Jason I like because he is straight up and adds a little humor twist. Dana and I used to work in a group home for teens and sometime their anger and negative behavior was a window to their problem.

So if we prematurely surpressed their anger we weren’t helping them. Far as politics, there is more frustration within the people and some of the post are bit over the top, even mine, is a reflection of the inter anger with the issues. It’s all about pushing hot buttons and when there are no substance to responses other then foolish personal character shots, it’s a turn off.

Me, in deed I take it to the extreme with Chavez and Korn because, I feel there must be more to Korn then his social work with Chavez. I just like to hear where he is on local domestic issues.

Dana, knows I am fishing for emotions and he doesn’t play the game with me. My blog is about concerns with education and the impact of legislators who I feel have personal agenda and legislations that are unfunded. I am far from an expert on politics or education.
My direct involvement with the party of my choice is for the advancement of my concerns with education. You’ll see me take shots at republicans such as recently against Ulbrich and Wagner as my mission comes first. For me I talked the walk, as you’ll see me at school board meeting, events at schools and on various committees and boards associated with education. You see me at political events as it’s is important that I network with legislators. I have no political aspirations beyond maybe school board some day. The empowerment of people is far great than that of government and when people are united, the politicians fear us. When people are divided politicians do their deviant political deeds.

It’s very unfortunate that Dana and DT relationship has turned out the way it did. They were Ying and Yang but not in harmony.

Now for Mr. Puzzler, you seem like a good stabilizer keeping things focused on issues.

Gravatar In spite of the fact that it made me ill, that was a great post, Dana.

Gravatar This is powerful stuff.

Gravatar Brian Moore is a clone of Rodger Roy.
Who is he? Where did he come from?
What has he acomplished?
Where is he headed?
To win that seat, being an over weight fire fighter and screwing in light bulbs for over $90,000 for Red Clay is not going to cut it.

Gravatar Correction -- Red Clay pays Brian Moore OVER $100,000 and he's been at Red Clay LESS than one year.

What does Brian Moore do and what is his experience to get OVER $100,000 of taxpayer funds?

Now Brian Moore wants to double dip - just like Roy - and be the state rep and make another $40,000 +.

When does the RIP OFF of the taxpayers end?????

Gravatar "When does the RIP OFF of the taxpayers end?????"

Bill
When Sokola is out office

Gravatar roger Roy is a crook and should go to jail.Plus payback all the money he received

Gravatar "organization which arguably exists primarially to engage in influence peddling for major corporations than to provide any other necessary public service."...

well that's the argument you make and it relys on most of your readers having no idea what the TMA is or why it exists.

The TMA is an outgrowth of the Clean Air Act. The CAA puts the burden of trip reduction on large employers. That is, companies like DuPont, Delmarva, Astra Zeneca etc are responcible for reducing the number of cars in their parking lot by encourageing the use of ridesharing, public transportation, car/vanpooling and telecomuting. Organizations like TMA were formed (all across the country) to help craft and promote multi-employer solutions to the federal trip reduction mandate.

I know it's unfair of me to use facts since this is about emotions for you. you love Korn and feel you must hate Moore. You are angry that Roy has retired, you were so excited at the prospect of running a smear campaign against him and his family that you are lashing out at Moore and his supporters, trying to drag them into the gutter with you.
