I know it hurts you but Obama was all about slogans in the campaign and being a real President requires a bit of toughness and reality Obama does not seem to have.

I agree with you he should be true to his ideals, if they are his ideals. Otherwise, he is simply another lying politician.

What strikes me about this post is not Obama (I have known that he was going in this direction for a long time), but YOUR intellectual consistency. For you, if torture and "preventive detention" is wrong for any President it is wrong for all Presidents, and even when we disagree fervently on something, that consistency is why I respect your views.

Considering that Obama voted 5 times to fund a war that he ran against as a presidential candidate, and never once attended an anti-war rally.

It's hardly surprising that he will now only meet with the people who elected him ... rarely and in secret.
