DELAWARE WATCH

Gravatar I'll be glad to be wrong, but I am not holding my breath; a lot of people in the LGBT community are parsing Gibbes differently than you do.

Gravatar I was cynical too until I interviewed a rep from the Serviceman's Legal Defense Network this past Monday night on Progressive Voices. They are on the cutting edge of the issue. They are convinced that the Obama administration will reverse the policy, especially since recent polling suggests that neither the majority of the American public nor serivcepersons themselves have a problem with letting homosexuals serve openly in the military. They believe that the holdup has been an old guard in the Pentagon, many of whom are on their way out through retirement.

I imagine that there might be many issues to sort out before legislation is formulated: e.g., what to do w/ those who were discharged because of DADT? I think the answer is obvious (reinstate them if that is what they desire), but there might be ramifications to changing the policy speedily that I am unable to foresee.
