The Wire is brilliant work. And, in its dark way, very hopeful, not about US capitalism, but about that cliche, the human spirit.

(Have you noticed that the anti-Wire critics are tossing the word "bleak" around like it's one of Karl Rove's talking points?)
When most critics say "bleak," what they mean is "Capitalism is wonderful! Don't worry! Be happy!" I think it's part of the Bipartisan Vocabulary Pack that's available for sims everywhere.
