Maybe it's just because I'm new to the gun culture and there may be something I'm overlooking, but given the popularity of the SAA replica market I'm surprised someone doesn't make replicas of the Broomhandle and the P.08. I'd give both serious consideration, as my budget requires that I buy shooters and not spend a heck of a lot of money on them.<br /><span class=\"byline\">           Ken Hall | <a href=\"http://oldsmoblogger.blogspot.com\" title=\"http://oldsmoblogger.blogspot.com\">Homepage</a> | 04.27.05 - 12:18 am | <a href=\"#298466\" title=\"Link to this comment\">#</a></span></p><hr /></td></tr><tr><td class=\"MessageCell\">    <a name=\"298471\"></a>        <p><img src=\"http://www.gravatar.com/avatar.php?gravatar_id=60eed9bc615a0969023a358fc5a6090a&amp;default=http%3A%2F%2Fec1.images-amazon.com%2Fimages%2FG%2F01%2Fx-locale%2Fcommon%2Ftransparent-pixel.gif&amp;rating=PG&amp;size=32\" alt=\"Gravatar\" title=\"Gravatar\" style=\"padding: 1px; margin: 2px; float: right;\" class=\"gravatar\" />I'm with Ken on shooters, there's a Utility Clause in my budget process. Maybe in 7.62X25. Unfortunately a modern version couldn't have the wood stock/holster--that would make it a short barrel rifle and get you into all sorts of BATF paperwork. It would be quite a bit more complex and expensive than the SAA revolvers, though. Still, I think someone could make a small run and sell them for $750-$1000.<br><br>I've wanted one ever since I saw Han Solo.<br /><span class=\"byline\">           Ernst Blofeld | 04.29.05 - 10:56 pm | <a href=\"#298475\" title=\"Link to this comment\">#</a></span></p><hr /></td></tr><tr><td class=\"MessageCell\">    <a name=\"298477\"></a>        <p><img src=\"http://www.gravatar.com/avatar.php?gravatar_id=149c7dea3c4cc6609fbb35f218beafa6&amp;default=http%3A%2F%2Fec1.images-amazon.com%2Fimages%2FG%2F01%2Fx-locale%2Fcommon%2Ftransparent-pixel.gif&amp;rating=PG&amp;size=32\" alt=\"Gravatar\" title=\"Gravatar\" style=\"padding: 1px; margin: 2px; float: right;\" class=\"gravatar\" />Even the Chinese couldn't make one now for $750-1000 - gobs of machine work in there. <br><br>Congratulations, it's a Postwar Bolo, made 1922 (or so) to 1930, serial number range about 444000 to 793000. I always found the New Safety to be a bit daffy, but it works. <br><br>Sellier & Bellot loads 7.62x25 Tokarev - much hotter than the loads this, or the Tokarev, or the Vz 52 were originally designed for, and I haven't figured out why they do it. They should know better as they load a lot of government ammo - surplus with the bxn headstamp is S&B. Many owners shoot it through their C-96s without any trouble, though. Fiocchi loads 7.63 Mauser, at a more reasonable velocity. Historically the two loads were identical, but the Czechs started overloading Tokarev in the 1950s, after which time everything went to hell. The Chinese surplus, in particular, is all over the map. Some people have doubts about Bulgarian surplus. Hansen used to import Yugo ammo (Privi Partisan) which was great stuff, but then Yugoslavia went and fell apart, and the locals kept all their ammo to shoot at each other. In any case, I've never heard of a C-96 blowing up with any factory ammo.<br><br>Some people like to replace the bolt stops on these oldies before shooting them, but I think it's a bad idea. By all means try it at 1000 yards, just don't expect to hit what you're aiming at. I own one that I inherited from my father who brought it home from WWII. It has the wooden stock and a leather holder that the stock fits in, but the leather is really falling apart. It's only been fired a few times since WWII. Speaking of movies, I'm pretty sure I saw one in \"Schindler's List\".<br /><span class=\"byline\">           Rick Lee | <a href=\"http://rickleephoto.blogspot.com\" title=\"http://rickleephoto.blogspot.com\">Homepage</a> | 04.06.09 - 1:39 pm | <a href=\"#548099\" title=\"Link to this comment\">#</a></span></p><hr /></td></tr><tr>    <td class=\"InputCell\">                  <br /><div style=\"margin: 0 auto; width: 278px;\"><a href=\"http://www.cnet.com/html/ww/100/2009/poll/infrastructure.html?tag=mncol\" target=\"_blank\"><img src=\"http://www.haloscan.com/images/webwarebanner.png\" width=\"278\" height=\"60\" border=\"0\"/></a></div><br /><div id=\"newcomment\"></div><form method=\"post\" name=\"addComment\" action=\"http://www.haloscan.com/comments/denisebill/111446348735106856/\" target=\"_self\">        <p>    Name: <br />          <input name=\"name\" type=\"text\" size=\"38\" value=\"\" /><br />          Email:<br />          <input name=\"email\" type=\"text\" size=\"38\" value=\"\" /><br />          URL: <br />          <input name=\"url\" type=\"text\" size=\"38\" value=\"\" /><br />          Comment:&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"javascript:emo_pop()\" title=\"Smiley and tag help\" target=\"_self\">?</a>&nbsp;<br />          <textarea name=\"addMessage\" rows=\"12\" cols=\"38\"></textarea><br /><input type=\"checkbox\" name=\"subscribe\" id=\"subscribe\" value=\"1\" /><label for=\"subscribe\">Notify me of followup comments via email</label>        </p>        <p class=\"PSubmit\"><input name=\"submit\" type=\"submit\" value=\"Publish\" style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"SubmitButton\" />&nbsp;<input name=\"previewMessage\" type=\"submit\" value=\"Preview\" class=\"SubmitButton\" />        </p>      <input type='hidden' name='user' value='denisebill' /><input type='hidden' name='comment' value='111446348735106856' /></form>    </td></tr>  <tr>    <td><p align=\"center\">        Commenting by <a href=\"http://www.haloscan.com/\" target=\"_blank\">HaloScan</a></p>      </td>  </tr></table><img src=\"http://c5.statcounter.com/counter.php?sc_project=561713&amp;java=0&amp;security=01eeff58\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" /></body>");
