Southern Gal - Thanks For Your Comment
I was surprised to hear people were campaigning about it. I don't know the details of this particular debate, but it always struck me as odd that the US had such problems on its Southern borders. I supose people think the consititution has to offer everyone the same chance the original settlers had, even if it seems to make no economic or legal sense.
It is much the same over here, but we have the added interference from the European Union laws, that seem to favour the off loaders with human rights legislation and not the rightful citizens. Hope you manage to keep your border controls as that is the last defence.
Kieran I agree with what you said. The fact is that we do offer people from other countries a legal way to come here and enjoy the same rights as those born here. The borders must be controlled. All a terrorist has to do is go to Mexico and walk into our country. Those that are here now illegally shouldn't get an easy ride here with all this controversy. There are people from countries not connected to the US that has to do it the legal way and are waiting patiently for years to get the right to come here. Why should those who came here illegally get rewarded with the right to stay.
Lightening, Yes I suppose many countries other than the United States have problems with immigrants from neighboring countries not going through the proper channels. I agree that it is very important to secure our borders.

Couldn't agree with you more. I'm as "liberal" and "caring" as the next guy, but these people were lured here illegally by greedy corporations and far right wing politicans, and they should be kicked out of our country and paid reparations for the rest of their lives those same politicans and companies for being vicitmized by our politicians for so many years.
It all amounts to flooding our labor pools with slave labor for the good of the greedy, and I'm sick and tired of it....

Bob and Gun Toting I agree with you that myself and everyone needs to get mad about this and stand up publicly with passion and refuse to accept anything short of giving this country back to those born here and those who follow legal avenues to become a citizen.

Heaven forbid LOL. The original settlers were my ancestors, known today as Native Americans. If we offered to illegal immigrants the same treatment that was given to the Indians the people alive today would protest with vigor. I could address this topic in more depth but I'll leave that for another day.
