At first my reaction to this was...People hang themselves in prisons here in America all the time and that doesn't mean that they were kept in horrid conditions. Some just cannot handle prison environment and become depressed, etc. To me prison alone would be horrid enough but as prisons go the one in Guantanamo after reading up on it seems to be a pretty bad place to be. I'm not trying to say that we need the conditions for war prisoners to be five star hotels or anything but human dignified surroundings and treatment should be expected from a country such as the United States. I know that the prisoners may be scum bags but we are still a Nation built on a constitution of rights and we cannot ask other countries to treat our prisoners with human dignity if we don't do the same.
