The problem is that it IS over and it has been for a long time, but those "in charge" simply haven't yet accepted the truth.
Start working on getting them to open their eyes instead of focusing on the wrong issues.

Cristy you have a point in the fact that I also believe that the ones "in charge" refuse to look at the facts of the situation. They were so hell bent on it being one way that they do not have the ability to accept being wrong. If they change their view they'd be labeled as being wrong and they are not about to do that so they have to find a way to distract attention from their being wrong and focus it on another situation that we'd support. The ole bait and switch routine that got us into Iraq in the first place. I hope that the American people will not fall for it again and therefore stand up to those "in charge" and force them to face reality.

Cristy I should add a response to your comment of it being over. This is my point actually. We have assisted Iraq in setting up a base government, training soldiers and much more. At some point we must let them handle the situation and stand up to the plate and fight for democracy if it means enough to them. If they fail then perhaps they didn't want it as much as Americans think. I don't want to see them fail, especially after all the American and Iraqi lives lost fighting for them to have this opportunity. However, at some point we must let go, just as a mother has to let go of their child and allow them to take their first step on their own.

I think that going to war with Iraq was ill conceived from the start, lives lost for what? to satisfy those that decided on our behalf, all too easy for Politicians that sit on their backsides out of touch with the real world. Here in the UK we have another decision which is going the same way, British troops sent to Afghanistan to help rebuild infrastructure, who now find themselves fighting the Taliban, and one killed already. When are they going to learn from their mistakes?

Lightening, my instincts from the beginning told me that we were not being told the entire story about the reasons we were going to war in Iraq. However, when "evidence" was presented to the American people showing National risks and connections to 9-11 I decided that it was warranted and chose to support it. Now we learn that the "evidence" that swayed my decision was nothing more than a smoke screen to gain our approval. At this point I don't necessarily care who is responsible for this. I feel that a wrong was done and it needs to be rectified so no more lives are sacrificed. Once this is done we then can play politics and investigate who is responsible for misinforming the American public.

Need I say more.... As for Bush... it will never be over until he is out of office. Nothing will sway him from what he is hell-bent on doing. Just read the article quoted below.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush said Wednesday domestic politics and dipping opinion polls will have no effect on his plan for a stable and democratic Iraq. Click here to read article
