By Dan Froomkin
Thursday, June 8, 2006; 11:24 AM
Infuriated by Vice President Cheney's stealth campaign to subvert his embryonic attempts at oversight into the administration's domestic spying program, Senate Judiciary Chairman Arlen Specter yesterday did something very rare inside Republican circles: He went public."

Before you think too much of the new Arlen Spector you may want to read the article posted on the blog "Gun toting liberal" Here is the link.
Is it ‘Specter’ or ‘Spectre’?

Steve it is sad to have to admit this but I agree with you. At one time I liked Lieberman but lately it is like he can't think for himself, he has to sit on the fence and make his decisions based on which ever way the wind blows. I have met Spector back when I was working in a nonprofit environment and he was very interested in what we had to say when we lobbyed to speak to him concerning a bill and nonprofit federal funding issues and he took action. He even spoke at an event in DC once. The genuine interest he showed made me have a lot of respect for him. I even told him that I was probably what he'd consider liberal but that he had earned my respect. LOL. He laughed at that. Another person on the Democrat side that I must say seems genuinely concerned for people is Senator Kennedy. He was always available when we needed him to take part in a charity event in DC even if it was only to lend his name as support for the cause.

Dee Dee --
Get a grip on the Funk & Wagnals. People are unconscious and conscious -- and Specter is mostly unconscious -- but when they develop the faculty of recognizing the difference between right and wrong as regards their own behavior, we say that they have developed a conscience. That's con-science. Specter, 80 percent fascist thug, can't have a conscience.

LOL Stephen, thank you for the spell check and I'll make the edit. I wrote that via my blackberry while at work and it will put in automatic word suggestions as you type and I guess it put that in and I accepted it without paying attention to the difference.
