In 23 years of voting I have missed 1 election. One....1987 Mississippi Governor's race. The two guys running were so awful i sat it out.

Other than that, I share you opinion - vote for the best candidate, not the best party. Proud independent (small "I") Liberal (large "L") and I don't see that changing anytime soon, my friend.

I consider myself sort of independent too. I try to watch and read all I can on the candidates and form my own opinions and not make them based on media bites from the news so called analyst because they are as biased as they come for the most part.

I am voting for at least one libertarian this year just to spice things up. The only thing i absolutely will not do is vote for any republican- and I was a McCain guy in 2000.

I was rooting for McCain in the primary too and if he would have won the nomination I could have very well voted for him in the national election. It is hard for me to say for sure without knowing how things would have went during the campaign but he sure had a shot at my vote.
