OK, I do not know many prices but CT Scan almost $2,000. I had one done about 8 years ago and it was only $600. Talk about inflation. How can anyone afford that? Sure insurance companies cover that for some but then up go the premiums.
You don't suppose they will take something in trade, some sort of barter thing?
Before you get any more bills I think you need to go to the post office and put in a change of address form and send your mail (and future bills) elsewhere. Maybe 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

hey barman... hmmmm bartering huh? I've got a few old hard drives, a monitor, something in a trashbag that's in my closet that I have been afraid to look in...
The change of address had crossed my mind... also writing on the envelope "deceased". Shrug.

*Gasp!* Holy Mackeral, Swiggerie-pooh! Pass the Nyquil, I'm gonna faint!
That is a serious bill you got there. Our St. Lukes Hospital is closing next month. Apparently, they couldn't compete w/the other 2 hospitals in the area. Looking at your bill, I think I see why.

That's as bad as the bills I recieved and still getting after my accident. They life flighted me off of I-45 that bill alone was almost $8,000.00. The thing that kills me is the insurance companies have neg rates usually 60% of the actual cost. The individual gets hit with 100%...I/O

Morning Denny,
Yikes I hate to say it but it's almsot cheaper to... well I won't say it!
You should have had them list you as indigent. I thought it was just the opposite, ins companies are billed more than private citizens and that is how the hospitals/docs make their money. Oh well what do I know?

Good morning Denny and friends. The medical insurance industry is the bigget fraud on the American public ever. The dr.'s and hospital gets paid about 60% of the bill they are sending to you. Follow up on thi issue and let us know what they pay. Send them 100.00 and write on front and back " endorsement hereon constitutes payment in full". See what happens, do they cash it or send it back? Good luck Denny and I hope you continue to improve. Bye for now , Danny.

Denny: I'd consult with the VA and have them write a letter on their letterhead outlining your situation. There are extenuating circumstances and this is one of them. Explore all the options with VA Assistance in your corner to at least corroborate your health situation and I'll bet this outrageous bill will be written off. Hang in!

MM, that's exactly what I intend to do... there has got to be something within the VA.
