Morning Denny! I made it!

My brother was drafted for the Vietnam war...he didn't want to go (his wife was pregnant at the time). He wanted to take his wife and run to Canada...but my Mom was SO worried that he'd never be allowed to come home again, she told him to go ahead and go to Vietnam.

Then she said she'd lay awake at night, thinking "He should've went to Canada...even if I never saw him again, at least he'd be alive. Who knows if he'll come back from Vietnam alive???"

But he did....

Anyway, I'm SURE joining any branch of the military is a whole other world. I can't even imagine...even though, if I had the chance to live my life over again, I would've went straight into the army after high school instead of just goofing off.

They ended the draft the month before I had to register for it. I was fortunate and did not have to serve. I will not knock those that have served, quit the contrary but I just can not imagine some of what people experienced in combat or not. The discipline probably would have done me good but I think I turned out OK.

Yeah, I got one of those GREETINGS! letters and spen a couple of years fighting our Army. Not fighting for them, fighting them. I managed to stay a thousand or so miles away from danger (Okinawa).
I limited my fighting to the bars.
