I'm living the bizzaro version of your life. I live in South Florida and don't watch TV at all. My 88 year old mother visits me from NY for a month and watches TV for untold hours. VERY LOUDLY. I have two important things to be thankful for. She dodesn't watch sitcoms or Fox News. But she does dig talk and reality shows. After Ellen, I'm back in the studio. If you listen carefully with an EQ device, I'm pretty sure you can hear Montell Williams on one of my voice tracks.

Ok. I adored you before, but I worship you now! I can't wait to show "HIM" this picture of you with RAYMOND! wow....scuze me a sec while I wipe the drool from my face.....
"HIM"& I are like your parents, only they don't show Ray 5 times a day here, only 4 at night. *sigh* However, we've bought the first season on DVD and seen them all twice. See, I live Deborah's life. Maybe that's why I like the show so much. We, too, roar with laughter constantly when we watch. You rock girl! That is the coolest thing I've seen all week!
*yes, easily amused*

That story made me laugh! You know, I have never ever watched "Everybody Loves Raymond?" It's on the Paramount Channel here and sometimes when it's on, I lower the volume and do something else. Maybe tonight I will watch it and see what your parent's fuss is all about.

Bud: I'm sure you can relate! I'll listen carefully to your music clips and see if I can hear your mom's influence! Thanks for the lovely mention yesterday, btw! You rock!
Brighten: She STILL goes on about it, and it happened almost a year ago. (But she is awfully cute anyway!)
Jade: OOOh, can't wait to he wait "HE" has to say!! You couldn't possibly be mike I parents. I couldn't imagine you eating dinner every nght at 4:30! LOL Thanks for all the sweet stuff!
Sev: Those Seinfeld reruns were a staple at my place until Last Guy & I got together. Now I have to watch occaisionally... you guessed it.. when I go to my folks. (Of course that is in between episodes of Ray!
You are so welcome for the pic. I'll see how long it takes to get another! xo
Mrs. Mogul: At least you have more that 4 stations there! That's all we had when I loved in London. But they were REALLY GOOD stations! Let me know what you think after you watch it!
Pimme: Lucky you! I usually can't leave my folks' sight for 10 minutes. (They miss their little baby!)

What a great thing you did for your folks! I don't see the attraction for Raymond any more than you do, but the fact that you went to all that trouble for them is really sweet. (btw, love the color of your hair b/c that used to be my color way back when).

Five times a day is quite a lot of Ray. But as far as network saturation goes, that's nothing compared to Law and Order which practically has two networks showing nothing but! This week alone NBC is airing 20+ episodes from the L&O family of shows!

How cool. Yes to see him interviewed he seems like a very nice guy. You can tell when they are putting on the nice guy act or when they are in reality, nice.

Let's put me in the EXACT same situation. Do you know what my mom would have said, if I'd given her a picture of me with someone famous she admired? "Who's that?" She was just that way!! I've never really liked his show (sorry Ray), but it's nice to hear he's a decent guy.

Does she have a wallet size?
Parent's are funny, aren't they? My mom is a huge Denver Broncos fan, and last fall my husband went to an industry food show, and John Elway was there signing autographs. He could only get one, so he passed up his chance at one to get one for my mom. She has it framed.

Hey I am back. So I just caught the last five minutes of Raymond. It;s the one where a fire burns in the kitchen. I am laughing but not sure if I think it's funny or the laugh track is making me.

Chenoah: Oh, it's easy to do stuff for my folks. They drive me kooky, but they are extremely sweet people! Why not red any more? REDS HAVE MORE FUN!
Captain Platypus: Wow, I don't think I've ever sat through a single L & O episode! Not enough laughs I guess! Welcome to the blog btw!
Robin: So true. I could tell you of a couple of "nice guy" types, but I would never tell tales out of school!
Michele: Oh yes....and she still is! You can't imagine the milage I've gotten off of this one!
Mr L: Aw come on! Don't be so tough on the old gal! xox
Pismire: That and the scary drivers! (And dinner at 4:30!)
Mike: Aw, I'm sure a picture of you by yourself would be enough! (If not, you could always use photoshop!)
Nat: Thanks so much! You made my day... as usual!
Christine: That is so sweet. You must be so proud of that man of yours! xox
Seven: I'm HONORED sir! I'm heading over there right before I go to sleep. I always save you for last! (wink wink!)
Thanks for the kudos! xo
Mrs. Mogul: Definitely the laugh track. It FORCES you to laugh at the most inane shit... Like who ever said that Emeril was funny. He's stirring stuff on a stove for fucks sake! What's so funny about that? Add the laugh track and adding salt & pepper is hilarious!
Panthergirl: If you had a picture of L.W. I'd admire you even more than I already do! (That reminds me of a post I'm going to have to make!)
Lois: AW SHUCKS....(thanks!)....I'm blushing again! xox
Tish: Sure girlfriend....but only if you leave me a bunch of frozen food in the freezer. you KNOW I can't cook!

Ray Romano created the idea that it is good for grown children to live directly next door to their parents and stop in on each other so often it's like having three bathrooms instead of 1.5. He should be punished. He provides my mother with proof of my abandonment of her when I married that pretender. It is the greatest problem in America today, this imperious notion on the part of all post-60 Mothers that their children remain children for the rest of their goddamn lives, unable to make a decision without a corrective that sends them running in the opposite direction. Meanwhile, the non-blood spouse is made to feel like a mistakenly adopted sibling in their own home.
Post-menopausal mothers should be required to register with the state. And by law they must be employed. Otherwise they just keep making more tea and seeing more tempests at the bottom of the cup.
Great post, as usual, sweety. We love your style and wit.
One l;ast thing. Did Ray look up your dress while you were playing?
should they and should be forced to have jobs, but is, in fact, far less than that in the eyes of the one who knows best. Moses said honor them, Jesus said love them but leave them. Mohammed couldn't tell his mother from the lady down the block (on account of the sheet) but he always sent a Mother's Day card and it alwauys arrived the day of. And he called.
No, Ray must be punished.

Oh CW, I think that you and I should just start writing together! I feel like I would be a great straightman for you... YOUR writing truly slays me.
NO, Ray couldn't look up my dress because I was wearing a leather skirt at the time...and black go-go boots, but because the skirt was pretty tight, it would have been kind of hard to get a good crotch shot from down there... AND ONCE AGAIN... he would never do that. HE'S RAYMOND ...the nice guy. (For fucks sake!)...Hey maybe that was his punishment!
