It sounds like you're reaching the point that most people have inhabited all their lives... not thinking they can do anything about anything, so not bothering to do anything on a scale that could make a difference (ie doing something to change the whole game), instead batting each ball as it lands.

At least you know that you have made a real diference to the lives of lots of people in the past.

Trouble is, I don't think there are younger people around who are prepared to stick their necks out in the same way as we did when we were their age. Maybe the system seems too big and too scary to challenge these days?

It's because we sat and watched our parents stick their necks out for other people. I've watched both my parents try their damnedest to help people, or change things. One of em got attacked by the people they were trying to help one too many times, and finally walked away, and the other is so fed up with the job they've had for 20 years that they just don't give a fuck about the initial cause anymore.

It's hard to get motivated to go out and make a change when everyone before us seemed to have failed. And thats not to say the failure was their fault, people just don't want help anymore.

The fact; sticking your neck out these days just gets your head cut off.
Call me close minded, but it's the truth; "Every man for himself."

That's what I thought bsd.
Depressing though, isn't it?
