I am SOOOO glad I found your website and signed up. I have a college degree which was obtained before computers were everywhere. If I was younger, I would have like to major in computer science, and I fully expect your newsletters to answer many, many, many questions I've had. Thanks so much for the information you're sharing with all of us!

Thank you for the bit about login info between http:// and @. That's another possible obscuring trick to watch out for.
In these days of tricky web surfing, I think you should also educate the users about another dirty trick which is not uncommon: extra bits after what seems to be the domain - where the last part of the "bits" is the actual domain!

Great job Dave. I will be passing this on to my computer newbie friends when they ask me "What does URL mean?"

Great job explaining URL's. Even though I consider myself well past the noobie range, I found this extremely useful in breaking down URL's into their basic components.

Excellent! How refreshing to get back to basics for new users but also a de-rust for those who are more experienced! There's always something to learn in this life. Many thanks.

Basic stuff, but despite using URL's for years I never have seen such a clear, extensive explanation. A helpful article.
And a good newsletter - keep it up!
