Yes, keep them coming.
Though the explanation seems thick the first time through, the process starts to make sense after a couple of passes.
Anything that takes the magic out of a machine, forces me to remember that it is just a tool,
is good.
It is also good to remember that anything Bill Gates can understand, so can I.
Thanks again: Roger

Good work, Dave!
Explaining the Windows registry is a formidable task; you've allowed readers a peek at it. A little more emphasis on backing up the registry is warranted. Even if you think you absolutely, positively, know what you're doing, back it up anyway! It's an easy task and can save you endless grief. A handy little program for this is ERUNT http://www.larshederer.homepage....nline.de/erunt/
I use it on all my machines, I have it set to autobackup with each day's first boot. (Just remember to clear out old back ups after a week or so!)

Dave,
Great info for those of us wanting to know more about our computers!!!!!
It would be nice if you would do a series of these covering the subject in more detail each time and little by little we would all be a lot more knowledgeable about the registry.
Thanks for the great newsletter; I like the new format.

Yes good info. But I use Win 98SE. I do know how to back-up the registry. Always a good idea. And no problem being late. Better late than never.

Thanks for the great article Dave, it was enlightning and thanks to Ron for the nifty little registry backup program. It's a cool way to bypass system restore which never works on my computer anyway.

As Ron said Dave you have taken on a big task and made it much easier to understand. I'm not a newbie but it has helped me get my head around it.
