I had the same problem and finally solved it after trying many things and now could not be happier with the solution.
I would recommend DownLoad Helper (http://tinyurl.com/38fdg5) if using Firefox since it is a Firefox extension and it is just one or 2 click to then download a video.
Then when I click on the flv download file it plays automatically with KMP Player (http://tinyurl.com/hjqc9)KMP is simply great. It will .flv and most others formats, and it has controls to make adjustment to almost any thing you may want to change.
