What a great list! Happily I use many of them, and do respect the others. A well protected computer with ease of use and smart applications is a joy indeed!

This is a great list. I have used - and currently use - many, if not most, of these programs. I especially like bootskin, and I've been using Firefox and Thunderbird forever, it seems. Everyone should at least check out these programs.

Gmail is up to 6369 mb now. I have abandoned regular email and rely on gmail alone. It gives me the freedom to switch around between internet providers. I like the interface as well as any email programs I use. I like that its functions are really fast.

I don't do anything that causes privacy concerns. The only downside would be if their servers went down or they deleted my account by mistake. I can live with those risks.
