SOUNDS GREAT!! I HAVE 3 COMPUTERS IN A HOME WIRED, CABLE, ROUTER (LINKSYS) I ALSO HAVE A NETWORK LARGER hd ETHERNET ATTACHED TO THE ROUTER TO BACKUP IMAGES OF EACH COMPUTERS HD, ETC.
I WONDER IF WHS WOULD REALLY GIVE ME ANY SIGNIFICANT BENEFITS? I LIKE MY WIN XP PRO AND HAVE A FEELING THAT THE WHS OS WOULD BE A SLOWER OS?
THANKS FOR YOUR GREAT PRESENTATION.

@ M.E. - WHS isn't an OS exactly, well not one you use on a daily basis. It's basically the OS for a computer you setup and forget. The OS does all the work and you don't have to touch it!
You could also add the storage device connected to your router directly to the server.
@ BigJohn - John, all you need is to add a device called a switch. A network switch is basically what your router is, but you can buy another one and connect it to your router. You can buy them with 4, 8, 16, 32 ports. You'll never run out of jacks!

Hi Dave,
I'll be mentioning this article soon in my newsletter. I think you hit this one out of the park. I'm going to set up my own WHS now after reading this.
I just need to update an old PC I bought for $40. It just needs another ram chip and a bigger HD now. I've already got a 250mb USB drive I can hook up to it.
Best wishes.

Dave,
Thanks for a great review. I have read good things about the home server software. What I like about your review is the liberal use of screenshots. I find that gives people a real sense of what the program is like.
Keep up the good work!
