Do you need to create new partitions manually? Maybe that's covered in the next issue. If the Live CD does this for you ... SUPER!
I've found a nice FREE tool for editing partitions when you need to.
Partition Logic
http://partitionlogic.org.uk/
It's a CD that boots up in it's own OS and lets you perform your surgery on your hard drive.
Naturally, it's risky doing this on a hard drive with a valid OS already installed, so be sure to get a good backup just in case something goes very wrong.
Have fun!

These articles on Linux are fascinating. I ordered Ubuntu 8.04 on a DVD so I can't wait to check it out. I backed up with Acronis just to make sure I still have my system intact though.

Clif,
The last issue actually covered installation. The Live CD does actually alter the partition so you have room for the Linux install. Very similar to a Windows install.
I have partition Logic in my downloads section. In fact I just recommended it on a forum yesterday Good software is good software!
