My only BP reads have both been Hudlin books. Bad Motha (BP and Luke Cage) and another trade (the one where he's looking for a bride). Allthough I'm not fully into the story, I found the fun bits with Luke Cage to be somewhat redeeming. This was not enough for me to keep following the series. I am interested in picking up trades from the classic series.

Is this trailer true to the classic look/feel of the books? It didn't make a particularly good impression on me.

What's with the corny accents and why would BET think we'd be interested in seeing random tribesmen getting impaled?

Gravatar Well RPower, to be fair……the trailer does depict the actual comic book digitized depiction of Hudlin and Romita, Jr.’s current run of the Black Panther graphic novel series. The tribesman are accurate to the storyline due to the ferocity and adroit manner in which the Black panther’s tribe/Wakandans were able to defend themselves and put fear into hearts and minds of their enemies. According to Marvel canon, Wakanda has never been successfully invaded and has always been able to ward off potential threats….aside from the 1960s Marvel Superhero animation and the BET affiliation, a BP cartoon should have been something to look forward to…..but I will give it a chance and we’ll see how it turns out.

Gravatar You know i've bashed this BP cartoon, but after giving it a second look it doesn't look that bad! I just hope when it comes to the fighting scenes that it's more fluid and not so stiff!
If this works and is a hit, alot of good things will come from this! We will have more black heros in cartoons and movies!

Gravatar I was at the Black Panel at Comic Con and there was soooo much excitement for the Black Panther. Reggie Hudlin showed a clip from the show, but also a clip from Hannibal (voiced by Vin Diesel).

I expected it to be done in the cartoon style, but it still looked pretty good. Not sure about Hannibal though. Reggie Hudlin said that he was expecting the shows to have a primetime slot, but not totally sure where.

One fan in the audience already suggested Wesley Snipes for a live-action Black Panther which got a laugh.

The Watchmen panel was PACKED, so I didn't get to see any clips, but I heard it was CRAZY.

I read Invincible and even got a sketch drawn by the artist, but I wasn't too impressed by the MTV digicomic. Maybe they should have done The Walking Dead. That would've been crazy!

Gravatar Oh yea and Reggie said that the series is only covering the first 6 issues of the Black Panther. Just a note.

Gravatar Okay, I just rewatched TDK and I've got to say this. The Joker is a bleeding racist. Think about it, 90 percent of the people he executed up close and personal were all black. The cops he killed personally were all black and so were most of the gangsters he did in.

I'm only pointing this out jokingly (the joker had a black henchman afterall) but I did find it notable. Rewatch it and see for yourself!

Gravatar I posted earlier that after taking a second look at Bp it looked pretty good...never mind i said that. This ish looks bad after a close third look! Man those folks are making a big mistake with this one. I hope the final product doesn't look like this.

Gravatar @Pelle

Well, Newsarama posted the BP trailer and the reactions are FIERCE:

I can understand that Cowan and BET Animation was going for a 60 "jonny Quest" look, but the show's animation needs a lot more polish to compete nowadays.

Gravatar Another big announcement related to Black in comics. Milestone's superheroes are returning to comics as the fully integrate into the DCU:

One more thing. Blogger Rich Watson (Glyphs) sums up better than I could why the Milestone/DCU merger may not be a good thing long-term:
