Why did she let him hold the baby?....this is so sad, it's like something out of a horror movie.
I think people in general are becoming a lot more cold and callous then they used to be, Human life has no value anymore to certain folks. SICK.

There is no way to stop crime.
There has never been a society of human beings that did not have a crime problem.
So you will be posting these stories for a long, long, long time.

how disgusting and traumatizing for that mother. that is an image i couldn't even fathom having as a last image of my child. since there was no mention of the father having any psychological issues, then i assume he just didn't want the baby. though i hate deadbeat dads, it would have just been better for him to walk away.
i wonder if he exhibited any irrational behavior before. im sure he probably did.

That is sick, but child abuse is not 'lower tier' behaviour. It happens at every level of society, in every ethnic background. The vast majority of child abuse, whether sexual, physical or mental comes from a family member.
Also, Sarah, considering Western society didn't even recognise Blacks as humans for centuries, and allowed Child Labour until just over a century ago, I don't think we can really say that society is more cold and callous now than before. Ultimately though, I guess all we can do is stop ourselves from turning cold and callous.

You can deny this type of behavior all you want but this heinous type of crime IS lower tier.....and who says that lower tier is about class designation its more about character....Paris Hilton exiting limos without any underwear and exposing herself to the world is very much "lower tier" despite her heiress label.....this is pretty evident.....we really are trying to highlight the lack of moral character and/or fiber in our culture......that is really what we are talking about here.

Hey DBurt, if 'lower tier' isn't just a class thing, cool, but doesn't that make it a bit nebulous? It's like you can just use 'lower tier' to refer to anything you don't like.
And please don't say I'm trying to 'deny this behaviour', I think we all accept that it happens and how monstrous and reprehensible it is.

I don't think that we are being nebulous...."lower tier" is not about class distinctions exclusively and it's not about simply disliking something but it IS about being morally and culturally bankrupt and how this affects certain people usually in violent and/or self-destructive ways....I think many of us know what "lower tier" means but you may not want to use the term for fear of being elitist but ANYONE can get out of being designated lower tier by simply demonstrating a certain degree of honor and consciousness......and it has noting to do with finance as we have seen many with money and absolutley no class.

Agreed again, but (it gets into semantic niggling slightly), finance and class are very much different things, too. And yes, it's true that I don't believe in being elitist, nor see it as a positive thing. It just seems to reinforce the idea that there is something innately better about some people and worse about others. Despite being an atheist, I prefer the sentiment of 'there but for the grace of god...'
So (if this statement is correct, you could put it on your front page), 'Lower Tier' refers to anyone who is violently or self-destructivly morally and culturally bankrupt? A fine thing to put yourself in opposition to, without a doubt, but I still feel that the name you choose to give it is too vague (IMHO).

You bring up a good point about how there are no marches against gangs and people who threaten children. I had a cousin, R.I.P., who once made a similar comment to me around the time of the Million Man March. I mentioned to him what we should do is march on the worst neighborhoods with the gangs and drugs.
He then said to me, Okay, so what do you do about that gang member or that drug dealer who refuses to change no matter what you say to him/her? What do you do, when you try to beg to them quit, you offer assistance, and yet they spurn your offer?
The only response I could come up with was, its almost as if you have to take those people out of society.
In any case this is what I believe the importance of forming communities of like minded people. Then raising families based on community values and such. That is the only way that I can the tide ever being turned.

This story is soo sad. What makes it even more sad is the fact that the mother of the 3 month old baby who was murdered still visits Mr. Olmeda is his syko home. She visits him every sunday and speaks to him on the phone at his mother's house in Cliffside Park, NJ. She also claims that she is engaged to him. To me this sounds like she wanted him to kill the baby. Everyone feels sorry for this mother but I sure dont. This world is full of sick people!!! The two of them should be locked up FOREVER!!! not in a syko home!!!
