I think the whole thing is ridiculous. Everyone knows behind closed doors that's what they call all African Americans.
Black people want reparations too...why isn't their a support from many whites about it?
Like Russian, Italian, Asian, French, Jew, Christian etc...I know I can't say certain things about their culture/religion that a fellow countrymen/worshiper could say.
That's life...why are we still having discussions about the n-word?
High gas prices are not due to the n-word.

I thought that the points brought up by everyone EXCEPT whoopi and the other brain dead sista (who previously felt that everything in the BOok of Genesis is true) were on point.
I appreciated her response (i can't get her name) but you are right, Whoopi's points were ridiculous.

She's crying because she really is not a person that is comfortable in a public speaking environment. Add a dash of White guilt and you have a nutcase. I will talk about this in today's broadcast.
I am a woman who doesn't go around calling my sisters "cunt" and I don't understand why African-Americans call each other "nigger." But if the word is rolled into the mainstream by highly successful Af-Am rap artists, it's bound to be picked up and used by the general population. Beats me why so many myspace pages are filled with white faces and messages addressed to "my nigga," but clearly it doesn't mean "person with some African genes" to them.
Regardless if how each individual feels on the issue. The fact remains that other cultures feel it is acceptable to address us (black people) by this term.
Using the term outside our homes is unacceptable. It's out of common courtesy for my grand parents who were not allowed to attend college, or own a home in the very same town I have resided, for the past twenty years.
Well TJ, you make a point but unfortunately, we have a set of Black folk that insist that they ARE "niggas".and would prefer to be referred to in those terms..so discernment and correct identification is in order-perhaps this is a call to the end of tribalism for Black people. But as Anonymous Voyager has so aptly stated commercial hip hop played a role in commodifying the n-word and now we're paying the price for it...this phenomenon needs to be acknowledged.
